I dont see to many lawyers standing around home depot looking for work.  I think maybe your ideas of a high income are different than mine.

Instead of spending their time and energy actually observing for criminal behavior and aiding the police in making the streets safer for citizens, they choose to watch the police instead. What a bunch of assholes.

yeah and? IA, does everything I said. They investigate suspected mis-conduct. They do not go around filming every cop hoping to bust them.

there is a difference betwen this and the OP.
Alright fine, what's your point though? Are you just pointing out something in society and giving an opinion...of which I can't really argue with cos that's just your opinion on what people are doing in their free time (and isn't illegal, apparently), or are you saying something should be done about this, or what?

It is an observation of IMO, of some fucked up attitude toward the police, their intent with these vidieos and the fact that they view cops as the problem and not illegals, or criminals. If they did, they would focus their energies on helping the police instead of hindering them.

It would only be a fucked up attitude if cops never break the law. But they do, so it's not.

Plus they don't hinder them, they just film them.

You don't think stopping some bad cops from breaking the law helps the police as a whole? wtf?

If the police aren't doing anything wrong they have nothing to fear.

Get off your high horse already.

Already been over this and I am not going in circles.

I do not think trying to catch suspected illegal immigrants is being a "bad cop". I think it is the law in AZ as well as federal law.

You think this is a violation of civil rights when citizens are filmed unjustly, why is it you think cops have no civil rights as citizens themselves?

You wouldn't want your every move to be filmed, why should they?

You are in fact going in circles despite the fact you haven't actually addressed any points. Your opinions lack any kind of rational argumentation. You totally fail to succsfully retort to any argument opposing your one-dimensional views.

I don't think trying to catch illegal immigrants is being a bad cop per se. No-one said it was.

I don't care if they don't want to be filmed. They are at work in the public sphere, they can be filmed. If I work in a bank they can film me when I'm working to make sure I don't steal anything. When a cop is working he can be filmed to make sure he doesn't commit a crime. I wouldn't want to be filmed off work and I don't think they should be either. I never said anything about civil rights violations before. Again you are putting words into other people's mouths.

It's not a violation of their civil rights. Why on earth would it be?

No, the circle stops when you hit the brick wall that is the undeniable fact that this law does nothing but enforce existing federal law. Period. It is rational

Your argument that you are right and I am wrong, irrational, have not addressed any points etc, is not an argument. All points have been addressed and this law is correct. You really need to do more than just claim victory, because you said so.

Your comparison is not apples to apples, people that work in banks are filmed, so is everyone in a bank or outside a bank. It is known.
Filming a person without their knowledge, and who is not under surveillance for suspicious conduct is not the same thing.

We're not discussing whether Arizona's law is correct but whether people should be allowed to film the police. You have no arguments that they shouldn't be other than they should be doing the police's job for them and trying to film criminals...who in some cases ARE the police.

My argument is not that 'I am right and you are wrong', as you would know if you bothered trying to understand my posts. I'm saying there is absolutely NO reason NOT to film the police. It's totally OK, and in many cases could be positively beneficial to society. You seem to think the police are all angels.

Again, you haven't addressed my points because you're talking about the Arizona law being correct, while I haven't mentioned the law at all since that's not what the thread is about.

My comparison is apt. People at work in banks was just one example. I used to work in a record store and we were filmed too, in that there were security cameras that could of course pick up what employees were doing. No problem. I'm at work, it's OK for my employer to safeguard their investment. I don't want to be filmed in my personal life and I don't think the police need to be either. At work, of course they can be filmed, especially since as police officers they have much greater responsibility than I had selling CDs.

Seems to me the police DO know they're being filmed, and even if they didn't know, then so what? They know they MIGHT be being filmed, which should be enough to prevent them doing anything illegal. That's why we have CCTV cameras but they're not advertised, or why we only have speed cameras every few miles, not every ten metres, becasue a speeder knows there MIGHT be a camera there, so he doesn't speed just in case he gets caught. A cop doesn't give an illegal beatdown to a suspect because he's aware he might be being filmed? That's a GOOD thing.

You still haven't explained why your contention that the filmers are doing it 'for money' is the case since it seems to me you have no evidence for this assertion.

Ok quick question, with all of your bullshit, how many times have told the cops to go "fuck theirselves" or "fuck off"?

It is an opinion on my part, and it makes sense, people looking for a quick buck or the 15 minutes of fame. If they really wanted to help their communities they would aid the cops in tracking down real criminal activity. and not film hoping to catch they doing something.

Its a contentious law wide open for abuse by the proportion of Police who are shitheads, I guess they want to see how the Police are going to implement it.
If there is nothing to see they'll get bored and drift off.

It is interesting how badly some Police behave even when they know they are being filmed, makes me wonder what they do when they think they aren't.

I have no problem whatever with the Police being filmed, out of control Police are dangerous to people and society as a whole.

the fact that you think people would only do this for money and not to protect society from the police's worst excesses merely indicates you are more concerned with money than society yourself.

you still haven't explained how they would actually make money doing this.

I see, so you haven't ever had to tell a cop to go fuck themselves, you are just a strong advocate of doing so. got it.

lowing you are so good at making up shit that you think other people believe.

I'm not an 'advocate' strong or otherwise of telling cops to fuck themselves, I never said I was at all, and you haven't 'got' anything. I'm saying it's not against the law and the cops should deal with the fact that if they represent 'the man' then people who don't like 'the man' won't like them either. you think it's ok that someone tells a cop to fuck off the cop can hand out beatdowns or make up shit to arrest them?

You seem to be a strong advocate of cops getting away with shit in the name of keeping down illegal immigration. amirite? Likewise as far as you're concerned it's not a problem if the cops in the vids dilbert posted got away with it yeah?

In a law suit the people who get the money are THE ONES WHO ARE WRONGED. Not the ones fucking filming it. So again, please explain how the cop watchers would make any money out of it.

YOu have made it clear that you have every right to tell a cop to go fuck off if you feel like it, and a cop should just get over it or used to it because you think they should have no recourse except to put up with it. I disagree.

Cops don't reperesent "the man" for they arrest "the man" as well. This is where your attitude is warped. Cops serve the people, not the man, and i have no problem giving the cops latitude in dealing with assholes that that think they have every right to be assholes to cops.

I am not an advocate of cops getting away with anything I just recognize that these occurrence are rare compared to the total interactions that occur daily and do not warrant citizens running around with cam corders filming them. Again if they wanna help, they can film suspected REAL criminal activity within their communities and turn that over to the police.

I suppose reward money has never occured to you has it? 15 minutes of fame, etc....
