Well, I'm going to college soon and I need a laptop, but I want a laptop that has a good processor and a decent amount of RAM so that I can do a little bit of gaming on it if I'm bored. I was going to get this laptop, but it's sold out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6834114743 So I was wondering what would be the best brand and what type I should get.

What's your budget?

When looking for a laptop, I usually value build quality over performance (you're not gonna be doing any gaming if the screen falls off). In that sector, the business HPs (B suffix) and Lenovos (T series) are reigning kings. If you aren't planning on playing all the latest games, many of those actually have rather decent graphics chips; usually enough to do BF2 on med-high, to set the scale.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Well I ended up getting a $1100 Dell. I guess my dad didn't really care about the price as much as I would think. I got some pretty good components in it. I wish I could post all the specs, but I forgot some of them.
