You should also look up Mexico's standard of living as long as we are striving to be more like them.
I don't think that was his point.  I think his point was that Mexicans don't really have any room to complain when their own country of origin is nowhere near as lenient as we are.  Until it is, they can shut the fuck up.

True, but... when you come here illegally and complain about the American government, it's already skirting the edge of hypocrisy.  When additionally, you come from a country where the laws are nowhere near as lenient, that's true hypocrisy.

They may not represent the Mexican government, but given their origin, they're still living much better here than they were back in Mexico.

So again, they really have no logical grounds to stand on.

Donations pour in to help state fight immigration lawsuits

Posted: July 08, 2010 7:21 PM

PHOENIX - One day after the federal government announced it's suing Arizona over SB1070, donations are now pouring in to help the state defend itself against the lawsuit, and others, involving the new immigration law.

According to Paul Senseman, a spokesperson for Governor Jan Brewer, the legal defense fund had $163,304 from 3,236 donors as of Tuesday afternoon.

By Wednesday morning, donations jumped to $363,378 from 7,397 donors.

Senseman said people from all 50 states have made donations.

The largest single donation is $2,000. People have donated as little as $1.

In May, Gov. Brewer established the fund to accept private donations to help pay the legal costs in fighting challenges to SB1070.

Arizona Attorney General Says He Won't Defend State's Immigration Law

Published June 18, 2010

Associated Press

PHOENIX -- Attorney General Terry Goddard says Friday that his office plans to withdraw as the state's lawyers in legal challenges to Arizona's new immigration law.

That leaves Gov. Jan Brewer's attorneys to defend the law on the state's behalf.

The Republican governor and Democratic attorney general were in a dispute over whether Goddard should defend the state. Both are gubernatorial candidates.

Brewer complained that Goddard's criticism of the law raised doubts about his ability to defend it.

Goddard says his office has defended state laws in court during the past, even when he disagreed with the law. Goddard says Brewer's threat to have him removed would be an expensive fight for the state.

Brewer predicts the law will be upheld.

Here is the 25-page US Governments Complaint against the State of Arizona:
http://www.justice.gov/opa/documents/az-complaint.pdf

INTRODUCTION

1. In this action, the United States seeks to declare invalid and preliminarily and permanently enjoin the enforcement of S.B. 1070, as amended and enacted by the State of Arizona, because S.B. 1070 is preempted by federal law and therefore violates the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.

2. In our constitutional system, the federal government has preeminent authority to regulate immigration matters. This authority derives from the United States Constitution and numerous acts of Congress. The nation’s immigration laws reflect a careful and considered balance of national law enforcement, foreign relations, and humanitarian interests. Congress has assigned to the United States Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and Department of State, along with other federal agencies, the task of enforcing and administering these immigration-related laws. In administering these laws, the federal agencies balance the complex – and often competing – objectives that animate federal immigration law and policy. Although states may exercise their police power in a manner that has an incidental or indirect effect on aliens, a state may not establish its own immigration policy or enforce state laws in a manner that interferes with the federal immigration laws. The Constitution and the federal immigration laws do not permit the development of a patchwork of state and local immigration policies throughout the country.

3. Despite the preeminent federal authority and responsibility over immigration, the State of Arizona recently enacted S.B. 1070, a sweeping set of provisions that are designed to “work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens” by making “attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona.” See S.B. 1070 (as amended by H.B. 2162). S.B. 1070’s provisions, working in concert and separately, seek to deter and punish unlawful entry and presence by requiring, whenever practicable, the determination of immigration status during any lawful stop by the police where there is “reasonable suspicion” that an individual is unlawfully present, and by establishing new state criminal sanctions against unlawfully present aliens. The mandate to enforce S.B. 1070 to the fullest extent possible is reinforced by a provision allowing for any legal resident of Arizona to collect money damages by showing that “any official or agency . . . [has] adopt[ed] or implement[ed] a policy” that “limits or restricts the enforcement of federal immigration laws . . . to less than the full extent permitted by federal law.”

On Tuesday on Jon & Ken's radio program (local L.A.), they interviewed the lawyer who wrote AB 1070 law.

I'm looking for the article he wrote on National Review, but haven't found it yet.

In the radio interview he said he went through in detail how to defend the SB1070 from the Justice Department's case.

What's sad in the Justice Department's case is they are saying a federal law, in this case, immigration, can only be enforced by federal police.  But local and state police routinely capture criminals for all types of federal laws (i.e. murder, fraud, drugs, etc...), and then hand them over to federal police all the time.  Why would their be any difference with immigration laws?

Also Jan Brewer's mentioning "santurary cities" that ignore federal laws - why the double standard?

Simple...the Obama regime believes illegals are really Undocumented Democrats - its really that simple.

Now let me try to find that article...[after the break]

You'd think at this point some big law firm would step in and "donate" services, depending on the demographics they hope to attract for all the publicity.

Anyone notice that Rhode Island had the same law on the books for the last 2 years that Arizona is about to implement at the end of this month?

That's why this is such a big deal.

Part of the country wants there to be law enforcement and half wants America to die.

Guess which half controls things right now.

Twas in response to the post above TBF. I mean... "half the country wants America to die". Where's that facepalm pic when you need it?

Probably harsh though.

Looks like the illegals are leaving Arizona in droves:
http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsN … 3220100725

via http://www.drudgereport.com/

In the article I find it interesting that they name the illegals by name (assuming that's their real name of course).  Additionally I find it interesting that "some are heading back to Mexico or to neighboring states. Others are staying put and taking their chances."

I bet many of them are coming to California because of all our Sanctuary cities.  Fuck...I already pay enough taxes.
