It's largely a result of Ford's plan to eliminate split markets, and get the best out of each of their divisions. They recognise that Ford Europe does compacts and low-to-mid-end sedans a whole lot better than Ford in the U.S., which is why some of the latest Fords you see on American roads are straight out of Europe with few modifications. The 2012 Focus, for example, will be the International model, and the North American model will be scrapped completely. They're also moving the Fiesta in from Europe to fight wars in a segment of the market in which they've never really succeeded. The Transit is finally, after pointless delay, hitting the U.S. as well. It's high time, that's for sure.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
Ford's latest cars in the US are actually really good. The Ford Fusion has received many awards. The Ford Flex has great crash ratings. All the "lawl Amerikkkan cars suck" stuff is kind of in the past... I mean I don't know about GM and Chrysler cars, but Ford's latest offerings have been very good.ghettoperson wrote:
Why does every car produced for the American market seem to be shit? Ford make great cars in Europe; wank in the US. Toyota make great cars everywhere else in the world, wank in the US. I mean, how fucking shit does that Lexus look?

I don't know, I quite like some of the Fords I've seen across the pond in the UK. I'd quite like a Focus ST or RS, and I'd probably take a current Mondeo as well. Hell, I'd probably even take a Fiat 500 if I had the option.
lel...
Toyota Motor Corp. said Friday it is recalling 600,000 Sienna minivans sold in the United States to address potential rusting spare tire cables that could break and create a road hazard in the latest safety problem to strike the automaker.

Don't push your SUV to the limit and you'll be fine otherwise, this consumer report comes off as just jumping on top of Toyota to boost their rep.Consumer Reports said its testing staff found that "when pushed to its limits on a handling course" on the magazine's test track, the rear of the Lexus GX "slid out until the vehicle was almost sideways" before the vehicle's electronic stability-control system was able to regain control. All four of the magazine's test drivers experienced the problem.
The magazine said that such a situation could happen in "real-world driving" and that it could lead to a rollover accident.
