whats the preferred method these days to cleanly remove video drivers?

I'm on win7 x64 and have upgraded my nvidia drivers a couple times.  I may be moving to a sli setup in the near future and would like to remove all the old drivers and remnants, and start over fresh.  I remember in the past using something like drivercleaner, but that was years ago.  I'd rather not have to do a whole OS reinstall.

I uninstall them from add/remove programs. Then I boot into safe mode and run driver sweeper. Never tried driver cleaner, but driver sweeper works for me.

I just install new ones over the old ones. I think drivers have advanced to the point that you don't have to fuck with them to update anymore.
