It is a civil war. There's no ethnic, linguistic or religious motive. It's purely political. It's one of the easiest examples of civil war you can get...Cybargs wrote:

True, but no war was even fought in Korea. It was only decided to be partitioned (or have a Soviet zone and an American zone) near the end of the war. It was because of Japan that they came in, but they didn't really have to in the first place once they had surrendered. Same for Vietnam/Indochina. Instead of letting these countries be free after liberating them from the Japanese empire. They either gave them back to someone like France, or decided to partition, occupy and influence them themselves.eleven bravo wrote:

It was all about laying out zones of influence for the post war world, they knew shit like this would happen
I know, but Truman was too much of a pussy unfortunately and he stupidly got rid of MacArthur too not to mention.Cybargs wrote:

Idiots.
NK is facing a new starvation crysis and they have been looking for a diversion.
If it is proven that they used a torpedo there may be serious issues, and this food crysis looks worse than the last one.

With the involvement of two superpowers... Under the UN it isn't considered a civil war (yeah I know...) Sure it was a war mainly between two sides of korea, but a lot of the fighting was done with the aid of the US and USSR and China.Mekstizzle wrote:

Wiki: During the war, both North and South Korea were sponsored by external powers, thus facilitating the war's metamorphosis from a civil war to a proxy war between powers involved in the larger Cold War.
