I've been reading up on the Uyghurs, Turkic Muslims living in China, and the Chinese are subjecting these people to some really harsh treatment in an effort to wipe out their culture.

So considering the Chinese are actively attempting to wipe out an Islamic culture, why does AQ seem hellbent on attacking Western targets instead of stopping the real subjection of Muslims?

I must concur with previous statements. Only the smaller cells in rural beijing would be unsuccessful. if something were to be planned so that it grabbed media attention, it would have to be made known to the west to be of any kind of valuable meaning.
