So as I decided to play a couple of rounds BF2 again I recognized my ping is jumping between 30 and 120 on every server no matter where it's located.
My ping is fine on other games (CS:S ~ 25 / CoD4 ~ 35)
Can these ping issues be caused by any hardware or is it maybe just my ISP?

I found the problem.
Running BF2 on both CPU cores ping of 18.
Running BF2 on one CPU core jumping ping of 40 - 200.
(I use a C2D E8500 not OC'd)

Running on both cores causes CTD's.
I don't get the logic behind that

Updating chipset / LAN drivers did not help either.
So every suggestion for running BF2 on both cores without CTD's is welcomed.
