They're all about harsh punishments. Like, in many of the more conservative Islamic countries, you get your hand cut off for stealing. The death penalty is fairly common as well and can be applied to plenty of things other than murder -- like rape.

Lowing's views are draconian when it comes to punishment. And I will say he also has a French attitude towards perceived criminals i.e. guilty until proven innocent. He would have been right in his element during the Crusades or the Inquisition or the witch trials. I do not look for only justice in the judicial system. I also want revenge for the family. (So does every one else, you just have to call it justice for PC but it is really revenge) I think this girl is getting it don't you?

and the problem, as has been stated, with capital punishment, is that in modern day society capital punishment is a hugely complex and expensive process because you have to be 150% certain that the guy did exactly what you say he did. I know you'll call for the streamlining of the process but that's a hypothetical what-if should-have, and unless we want to end up like China we have to work with what we have.
