After this week I know the nurses in the ER at Womack Army Medical Center by name. They instantly recognize me on sight as "the young lady with the resting pulse rate of 160". So here's the deal, I've got a diagnosis of acute Bronchitis, and I'm on anti-biotics for Mycoplasmal Pneumonia. They took 2 X-Rays during the 20 hours I spent in the ER on Wednesday and Thursday, and couldn't find "anything majorly exciting", but they know my history of Pneumonia so they're taking extra precaution. For now I'm on bed rest and if it weren't for Codeine, my chest and stomach would cause me too much pain to move. So lucky me, no BF2 for a while, because I'm sure the instant someone snuck up on me and killed me I'd gasp out of surprise, start coughing/choking, and then die from lack of oxygen. Oh yeah, and I still despise needles... and IV's... lying there and watching it fall slowly one small tear drop full at a time... drip... drip... drip...

Hope you get better soon and hope you've got some kind of hospital insurance / medical plan / ... dunno how they call it in the US.

Bright side of the story? Got a hell of a off to lay in bed and be nurtured by some goodlooking ... male nurse? Better yet its up to your husband to pamper you

Me I don't like being sick, so I just don't do that. Compare it like paying takses, I don't like, so I don't do it. Both are for real, but I don't know how long I can keep it up

Cheers,
R

PS.: A pulse rate of 160 in rest?
a/ what's your temperature?
b/ What are they giving to you?

Awhh thank you! Thankfully my medical bills are covered by the US Army. Scott's at work so I'm at home trying to get better right now. As for my pulse rate, yeah, it was 160 on Wednesday. 149 on Thursday. It rests at 108-115 right now. My temperature has been normal since Friday morning. I'm on 2 different anti-biotics for my lungs, Codeine for pain, and Albuterol.

Girl,

I know how you feel.  No, really.  Christmas break, got pneumonia.  20 days of antibiotics, bed rest through much of that time.  I had a choice though.  Behave at home or spend a month in the hospital.  I opted for the behave at home.  I had 2 sessions where I went into the outpatient section and was rehydrated.  7+ weeks now, and its 29 here in Georgia.  I swear a lit swig of gasoline would feel better on my lungs than this cold weather does.

Glad to hear they gave you something for the pain.

Listen to the nurses.  Make Scott read to you in the evenings (he does dishes and laundry already, right?).  Listen to the nurses and we will keep you in our prayers.

Hmm...

I guess your temperature was way up on Wednesday... Did the doctors gave you Albuterol when your pulse was that high??? Seems strange, because one of the effects of Albuterol is increasing your pulse.

Strange choice when
... you have a natural high pulse.
... having a high fever and thus a high pulse.

But you are still alive and kicking so... no problem Furthermore; I am not a doctor in medicine, to be correct, I am no doctor in anything yet... So just follow their advice, it is not that you live in Ghana - Africa or something.

Enjoy the rest

Cheers,

Neither have I, apart from a little cold. Can't remember the last time I had something a little more serious. It's always one day with a mild cold, then the next day I have a slight fever and headache, and the third day it's all over again. Must be all those chemicals I work with in the lab, my body's probably grown accustomed to them but anything else trying to get in is wiped out by the lethal concentrations in my blood.

Hope you get well soon, though.

I hate needles.

Only becuase when I had my appendix removed it took 12 goes to finally hit a vein. Took my mind of the fact that the left side of my stomach felt like I had a knife stuck through it. Funny how its your left side that feels the pain when you're appendix is on your right.

Although I did have a ruptured abdomen with mediocre internal bleeding

Oh, yeah, off topic for the win.

A tip Kim, but an unwelcome one.
If you have problems with your immune system, (as I had a while ago,) it's Euthinasia... wait, no... the other one... hang on... Echinacia.
Echinacia tastes like absoloute crap, and if you have a weak stomach you may not be able to take it. It continues to be the worst thing I've ever tasted, but it does boost your immune system.

Anyway, my best wishes. Hope you're well soon, and that once your well, you arn't sick for at least a couple of months.

Get some rest, drink lots of liquids, stay hydrated, get Airborne or Vitamin C and E boosters and get your immune system up to snuff!

You're lucky the Army takes over medical coverage.  I'm an independent contractor, and I bought my own medical insurance...holy crap, it was SUCH a pain in the ass, you have no idea.

I just wish we'd destroy the HMOs and PPOs and just convert the hell over to Socialized medicine >_<

Mhmhm Echinacia... my Mom used to give me a dose of it mixed with orange juice. She thought I wouldn't be able to tell. She thought wrong... I could use some now though. I'd deal with the taste.
