That only addresses the surround sound aspect (and in a poor way I might add). What about bass? Are they going to make the room shake when cannons fire in Master and Commander?.Sup wrote:

Read what I said, they still wont be speakers. You cant feel the audio in nearly the same way as you can with good speakers.Sup wrote:
to simplify - they try to make headphones sound like speakers.Winston_Churchill wrote:

Fin-Ray > Blu-Ray
Of course they won't be speakers but will get really close with a good crossfeed amp & headphones.Winston_Churchill wrote:

I've seen all of those in HD. BHD was probably the worst. Not much color variation. .. kind of like 300.aerodynamic wrote:
Watching Black Hawk Down in Bluray 1080p...awesomeness.
Next in the list: We Were Soldiers, The Hurt Locker, Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Mast and Commander and The Patriot, all in Blu Ray.
Watch Curse of the Golden Flower if you want your jaw to drop.

That movie isn't in English right? I see an English audio version but I feel like it's dubbed, which would blow.Kmarion wrote:

Yes it's not an english movie. The dubbed version wasn't bad imo. I enjoy foreign films, especially when they look as beautiful as cotgf.Winston_Churchill wrote:

At my dad's place we've got a blu-ray player (PS3)... it's great. The sound system kinda sucks though. And the TV is only 720p.
I wanna get a nice 1080p player and a sexcellent 7.1 sound system at some point in my life. Although by the time I can afford such things, it'll be something like 4320p and 20.5 surround sound.

heh, I just hate the design on that thingKmarion wrote:

Pricey though.
We have the Samsung BD-P1600, very happy with it. I don't remember the name of the feature, but it'll calibrate my Samsung LED for optimal HD hotness. Which is awesome for me, because I really cba to muck around in the settings myself.
And I totally forgot about that golden flower film, I meant to watch it when you mentioned it ages ago.
What makes it better than, say, a PS3?Kmarion wrote:

The design is what I like about it tbh.. I will mount it on the inside of my EC. @ 1.5", it makes sense.Jenspm wrote:

The PS3 is a great BD player hurri, dont get me wrong.. This is faster and it's not as bulky or hot.

Faster how?

yeah that's why I got a PS3 - it was the cheapest BD player at the time and very interactiveKmarion wrote:

Loading. By only a few seconds though. For me it's the space and mount factor. I have customized my Media center and have tried to free up space, making it clutterfree.. It's not often you get something that slim with all of those interactive features. I've also seen it for $225, which isn't bad.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
