- So, my dog´s in her first heat :O Any tips or advise?
Get her spayed man.
Wtf does it mean when a dog's in the heat? I have female dogs and I've never heard of that...

I'm serious. My dog's are also 'fixed' or spayed or whatever you wanna call it so maybe that's why.liquidat0r wrote:

Sure will do, but I wanted to wait after her first heat, so she is fully developed.SonderKommando wrote:

Doggie Diapers? Good to hear you're spaying. Growing up we had a bulldog -Prissie. Lived for 9 years, ancient for a Bulldog. Brother had one, lived for 4 & is buried in my back yard. You gonna do the 3rd eyelid surgery too?

I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
Best to gate off an area for her. Since it's her first there probably won't be that bad. Mostly spotting. Tiled area would be best. Keep her away from rugs. Don't bother with buying the diaper thingy. Just use regular maxie pads taped into old boxer shorts. Use safety pins to tighten it up. That's what I did with my Rotties. Oh and no matter what she's gonna chow a couple pads. Best to have eyes on her most of the time. You may have some neighborhood visitors too..good luck.
so much hassle, glad I don't have pets and probably never will

lol fucking jokes thread
So I've learnt to never get a female dog, thanks bf2s
get a male dog and cut its balls off for the least trouble
I dunno the english name, but we planned on getting her this method, where they go in through 3 tiny holes. Pretty fast, and once the anesthesia wears off, she can run like nothing happened.DBBrinson1 wrote:

We tried the old pants method, but she was pretty quick getting it off again. So far, the spotting is managable, and theres parquet throughout the apartement anyways, making the day easier.CC-Marley wrote:

We will try to keep her away from male dogs when we walk her, should be okay.
Any ideas on how long it will last? I read something between 3-4 weeks.
Thanks anyways guys!
I have but he's older than some of the members here (15 years) so I may have to get a Czech Wolfdog in a few years.

My Advice
1. Dont let her sit on your slippers when she's 'on'.
2. Put a pair of boys (aged 7/8) pants/briefs on her, just to protect you from blood.
CC - Has posted so he's probably given the best advice but this happen again in 6 months, unless your going to breed from her get her done asap. Keep her in as she'll climb a 10ft wall if able just to get out.
She´s just sittin on her pillow thankfully. The bleeding is at bay too, so far (if you can say that lol)1927 wrote:

We live in a third story apartement, so luckily this cancels all jailbreak attempts
And no way are we going for breeding. I just wanted to have her get her puberty, so she is fully developed. Makes her calmer when coming of age too. When this is over, she´s getting spayed. I can barely manage with my gf´s period, no way I´m going through this extra every 6 months.
Ive always taken my bitches for walks, but its horrible watching them run for 10 seconds, stop, like their chuff and carry on, stop, lick their chuff and so on. I think it lasts for 6 weeks but the 1st time isnt the heaviest time. She might drop off her food for a day or two and have a bit of a dry nose. Plenty of water should help. Easy to say as she isnt mine but Id still walk her.Sisco10 wrote:

Haha, walking her is ok so far. Luckily, all the dogs in our neighboorhood have about the same time they get their walks, so I just pick a different time. Sad for her, but it "eases the tension".1927 wrote:

As for the licking, it is quite amusing, though sad sometimes, cause she can barely reach the "hot zone". Its a bit like a dog chasing his own tail
