Conservatives are not evil, in fact, generally speaking, they are more generous than liberals. Conservatives help people in need and want to. What they do not want is have their hard earned money stolen from by the stroke of a pen. We believe in earning your keep through YOUR efforts, not the efforts of others.
What liberals do is vote ( steal) the money away from someone else and give it away, then claim generosity and selfless acts of kindness, and humanity, as if THEY are the ones sacrificing. Quite genius actually. Wouldn't expect anything less from a wolf in sheep's clothing.
The people who bash Rush ovbiously don't listen to him. They listen to the skewed hit peiced done on him which are mostly lies. Remember the football team buy fiasco? I didn't hear his comments, but would wager they were taken out of context. I wouldn't be surprized that O is doing this for political points. 100 million? A drop. The f'er doesn't even care about his own brother in Africa living in poverty or Grandmother. Now all of a sudden he's compassionate? We're pledgeing 100 BILLION a year for a man made manufactured lie. 100 million? really? Please. I call bullshit. But hey, any aide is better than none.

I see your point, and sadly yes, more often than not there is a devisive line. However, I work in a political environement where the two sides coexist relativley peacefully and have several friends that are wayyy on the other side of the aisle. When I started I was really R v. D's no exceptions. But over the years I've seen that at the end of the day we're still Americans and over that still humans. That's why I have a problem with the 100 million figure.Braddock wrote:

How many people here have donated to the red cross to help? That is what is important, 100K casualties is the estimate atm, that is sick and sad. I don't understand how people can think any aid given is a political scheme. Helping people in desperate need is not a right or left thing, it is just the right thing to do. They NEED help, their country has literally shaken itself apart... ffs ppl, drop this repetitive right vs left bullshit "debate"

I think you're talking about conservative and liberal cartoon characters lowing. It's okay, easy mistake to make.
You're not making an argument lowing, you're just inflicting your opinion on everyone. I know there are polls and studies out there that claim liberal households give less than conservative households in terms of charity every year (something like $400 less on average) but even if these studies were statistically robust they would still only account for the American liberal mindset. Europe, generally speaking, has a liberal/socialist leaning and it still donates a great deal in terms of charity and aid, both at a national and individual level... and that's even with our "evil" socialist tax systems.
Look at this map of the world (Notice how if you add up all the socialist countries from 3-10 it equals more the US):
http://www.mapsofworld.com/images/world … id-map.gif
I have long acknowledged a difference between European socialism and American socialism. Mainly Europeans have a work ethic about them, they work, and from my short time there, seem proud of their communities and contribute to the greater good of it.
In America it is not that way, here liberals are leeches, they expect, and demand everything yet feel no compulsion to contribute in return. THe feel they are owed something other than the freedom to choose their own self worth and own quality of life and their means of which to provide both. We are a nation of an ever gorwing population of entitlement. On this path, we are doomed as a nation. Hense my frustration and my attitude.
You're in the wrong place then.destruktion_6143 wrote:

Is there anyone on US TV or radio who is in any way objective in how they assess and discuss political news? To an outsider it just seems like everyone is either all the way to the left or all the way to the right.

On second thought, Haiti's nestled squarely in our sphere of influence. As shaky as our reputation is now, ignoring Haiti when countries from the middle east send aid would not be in our best public image interests.Macbeth wrote:
Honestly I really don't give a fuck myself and have to agree with Rush. Really don't think the U.S. owes anything to Haiti and doesn't have to give them a damn thing and with our record deficit shouldn't be blowing $100 million on Haiti.
There are more things we can cut besides natural disaster relief aid to save "$100 mil."

And the US military has taken control of the main airport. Good on them, that's an excellent idea.

What a fucking idiot. Was Rush just as outraged when Bush gave aid to Indonesia after the tsunami? We provided plenty of monetary and military aid there too.
Where do you think the Haiti aid money comes from, China?
It is added onto the national debt that we will pay interest on. Therefor we all are forced to contribute to the rescue aid like it or not.
And the point is, for every dollar the government takes in 75% of it is skimmed in fraud and union pensions, therefor the people of Haiti would be better served by Americans giving that money to a reputable charity.
Like all things American, more money will be paid in bribes to politicians and contractors that move the goods than will probably feed the starving babies.

Actually quite a few, that are well to the right, have been praising Obama's reaction. Todd Schnitt has for example. But those comments aren't as controversial, and therefor they aren't as popular. So I doubt you've heard them. Keep that in mind every time you hear the absurdity coming from this side of the pond.Braddock wrote:

I did not donate to the Red Cross for the Haiti victims much like I did not donate to the 9/11 victims.
Rush was right about the Philadelphia Eagle's Donovan McNabb being over-rated
I need to read the entire transcript or listen to his segment on why, though can not listen to rush so
that leaves me this must be a slow news day.

Silly.
On a serious note, that airport is holding 2-3 times more aircraft than it is designed to hold. They are doing their best to turn aircraft in order to let others in. That one just didn't make it. They'll get a flow going soon enough.

Still, if they took out the massive transport planes rushing there to get US citizens out of the country and actually let IN the aid planes it'd all work better wouldn't it.
And where do you get that? It's certainly not in the article. Those planes are bringing in aid and leaving as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that the US jets are only some of the ones there...it's just the US that's managing the aerial port operations.ruisleipa wrote:

Way to turn a massive relief effort into something nefarious.
