Inglourious Basterds overrated.

After repeatedly hearing how Inglourious Basterds was one of the best movies of 09 over and over again I finally watched it about a week ago.
Does anyone else who watched it think it was an overrated movie?
The actions parts were good but nothing amazing or anything that hasn't been done before. Nothing new or interesting to it. The rest of the movie was mostly boring conversation.

I don't mean that "all conversation in movies are boring, need moar kabooms". But you had to wait through 20 minutes of conversation that really wasn't all that witty or interesting for 30 seconds of violence and action. For instance the bar scene. You suffer through 20 minutes of a nazi asking questions and getting answers for 45 seconds of action which happens so quick you don't realize what just happened for the most part.

So did anyone else find the movie really overrated?

I liked it, even all the dialogue and shit, it was interesting like that. The very end was awful though, the bit where they kill Hitler etc..

It was something you could expect from Tarantino.
Gotto agree with Macbeth tho, it was good but overrated.

Nope. Inglorious was total shit. I actually fell asleep halfway towards the end it was that crap. Tarantino is good but this was utter bollocks. And yes, I am agreeing with macbeth on this one.

It was mediocre, I have no strong feeling either way. It's not terrible, Steven Seagal movies are terrible. Dreamgirls was terrible. This... Mediocre.

That Nazi was an amazing actor, throughout the film he never ceased to be amazing. I was impressed with the beginning, but then the rest of the film was quite a let down.

There was also a lack of scenes with Brat Titt's unit. They didn't explain how they got there, how they survived, and they didn't show a single ambush. Just the aftermath.

Didn't need to. The focus of the story was on the cinema, not the Basterds themselves.

Macbeth, I really couldn't agree with you more. The only saving factor of the entire movie was the Nazi officer (Christoph Waltz). He was the only one that actually put forth a show worth watching. Beyond that... eh?

If Tarantino and Brad Pitt's names hadn't been all over the advertising, it never would have done so good. Throw in those two names who, let's be honest have both done great work in the past but are really just riding their egos at this point, and you will get a big crowd to come in. That's it. Hype. Nothing more. Like the third Spider-Man movie. Lots of potential, but the end product just fell way off the mark.

Had I been alone in the movie theater and not with my parents and girlfriend, my girlfriend and I both agreed we would have gotten up and walked out. Absolutely dreadful movie. I was cringing the entire way through.

The only other positive aspect I can think of, and this is a bit of a stretch, was that it was good practice for my German with so many scenes where they only spoke it. Again, quite the stretch... Certainly not worth paying matinée prices for the pile of turd that they were projecting on the screen, much less whatever theaters charge nowadays for normal prices.
