Zune looks very nice, trying to decide whether I should pick one up in the next couple months or hold out with my square 4GB Nano until this thing comes out.
4 GB is getting to be kind of small with the podcasts and such I listen to, especially since I sometimes go back and listen to the old ones sometimes, as well as my music and videos, but I could deal with it for a while, or probably until my iPod breaks, as the metal back piece seems to be kind of loose...

The fact is, Uzique, that the Zune uses a chip that is so powerful they don't know how to unlock its full potential. Much like the PS3s cell, the nVidia Tegra chip is one hell of a chip, and once they optimise it (planned for March) it will have a hell of a lot more features.
And btw I bumped this cause I'm srsly considering buying a 120gb Zune. My ipod120 gb battery is pretty much fucked and won't take a charge anymore and it's cheaper to replace an ipod than repair one apparently (so fuck apple I say).
My last ipod (same model) had the exact same problem but was in warranty when I repaired it, this time it lasted a bit longer but I treat my ipods well, the battery shouldn't fuck up so easily.

Zimmer do you currently have a zune pass?
Xbone Stormsurgezz
No, I don't. I was looking into the Zune Pass Anywhere thing, but it's $24.99 a month instead of $15.99, which is just ridiculous. I'd definitely like to try it for a couple of months, would be interesting...
Am I correct in saying you can buy cards in stores for like 3 months?

Yes you can buy in 3 month intervals. You can also use it with 3 other devices/collections now. So between my sis, my mom, and myself it only cost us about 5 bucks a month for unlimited use.

Well, what I mean by the 3 month thing is if you can go in store and buy a prepaid card that just has a serial code that you add to your account and then you have the Pass for 3 months... Just because if that was the case, I guess I could ask one of you US guys to grab one for me...Kmarion wrote:

When I first started using my pass I bought online, paid $45ish, and it was good for three months. I've seen cards with MS points, but I'm not sure if those points transfer over towards purchasing a pass.
As a matter of fact, two years ago I bought my daughter a zune. I did get her a card with some points, and then on christmas morning I found out that you could not use them to buy a pass. So we had all of these points but no pass. We ended up getting a few videos with it after I put in my CC . That may have changed though. I'll look the next time I am in an electronics store.

It seems you can choose one and then set it as a gift for someone else....Technically that should work, I believe. I have no idea though, maybe the other account needs a valid US CC as well... Although I doubt it.
I've bought points and used them successfully over Wifi with the Zune itself and on the marketplace, so I don't see a real problem.

Yea I was searching zune pass gift cards. That looks like it will work for ya.

What I'm worried about is that it may actually ask you to register a CC because it might want to set up the recurring billing after you get your 3 month pass... Which would mean it's impossible for me to apply to my account. I'll have to look into this more, but now my bed calls.
I don't see the point in getting anything under 32gb.Kmarion wrote:

got it and I love it, we got a lot of mac fanboys in school who tell me its a complete pile since i dont have a million worthless apps, but I love that thing so much
Ever since the Zune update I can't play any videos recorded by xfire or fraps. They worked fine before and are .avi made in windows movie maker..Wtf?
My Zune HD has also frozen and reset itself a couple of times. Any ideas why?
One last thing. My HDD got fucked on my laptop and only half my music was on my external /facepalm Can the Zune put the files back on the computer unlike iPod? Dont have laptop back yet..

Select the songs, right click on them, copy to collection. Should work.

It just does that sometimes, sadly. The newest firmware update should be by the end of the month, that should fix a lot of things and add a lot of shit.RTHKI wrote:

On prior gens you could hold the back button and press up if it got locked. Not really an option for HD's tho.

More codec support as well.
"Also coming with the firmware 4.5 update is MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile, which includes support for Xvid and AVI. The software update is not here yet but in two weeks it will be available for upload."

It's not a very big update for such a long time. There are several thing they should really be chaging/fixing.
Playlist items should be allowed to be deleted, reordered and stuff. Adding music straight to a shuffled playlist should not just dump the album or song right after the one you're listening to, it should automatically shuffle it. Shuffling should be slightly more effective and not always place the listening song top if you want a reshuffle of the songs (sometimes I just want the songs after the listening one to be shuffled, I don't want to re-listen the stuff that has already played). When browsing data heavy streams/facebook/internet, the screen flickers like mad, that should really be fixed or an attempt at a fix.
Hold button is a bit iffy at times, causing irregular unresponsiveness and having to tap it several times. Load time on apps should be reduced.....
There's a few things that should really be fixed but they have only announced these two features? I'm slightly disappointed to say the least. I hope they have some background shit that they haven't mentioned.
Also, Kmar, 64GB version officially announced.

$349.99 is pricey.. still cheaper than the touch though.

Prices going down, what with the HD2 coming.
Going down for the 64gb? It hasn't even been released.
The $349 price point is for mid April.
