Medieval 2 Total War Won't Run

I installed it, and tried to run it but it came up with this message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Does anyone have any ideas? Reinstalling didn't work either i'm using vista by the way.

Typing that in brings this thread to number one and nothing from anything on the first page helps...

I get the same message when i try and run the disk to install my webcam too, do you know what could cause that?

Don't click the icon but go straight to the original .exe in the install folder.

Still came up with the same message!

Could anything be blocking me doing it? What about not being able to run my cd from the disk drive?

Go to www.gamecopyworld.com, search for your game, download a 'fixed EXE', make a backup of the original, and try again.

(Also I hope you've tried restarting)
