ive visited the us a lot and some of my family used to have houses there... the culture, mentality and views are more than apparent to me from personal and formal experience. most people in london dont care about 7-7. obviously it was tragic, terrible, condemnable etc.etc. but you have to understand that we're not a patriot-nation like you yanks are. we dont gaze upon the union jack with tears in our eyes whilst swearing revenge against the moral and spiritual "evildoers". there's no 'us' and 'them' mentality like there has been pervading all of american history. it sucked but we recognize it was an act of extremism. we don't think islam is going to bring about the downfall of the western world. because... we're not batshit crazy. we're rational and reserved as a people.

in fact, this is pointless. go back to my posting history before looking at things on which i've actually been bothered to argue with any vocality recently. i think you'll find scientific issues i.e. global warming, the 'type' of government that should exist in a western democracy and social justice are about it, as well as this debate about islam's place in society. given how much i study global warming, the fact that i do live in a western democracy and have had direct involvement with the social justice system and know several muslims quite well, i think i have sufficient knowledge to engage in debate on these issues.
