Is Windows Vista out? Can I convert my current Windows XP PC into Vista without losing the content on my PC?

Vista is the next OS, it isn't out yet, I have no Idea when it comes out but half my neighbors are probably working on it.

Vista is simply just a prettier XP. Although it does come with a better Direct X (10?) that's only available for that. It's new, of course it'll be better, but I wouldn't purchase it until atleast 3 to 6 months after it's release. Simply because of bugs and other various things.
Yes, You CAN upgrade to Vista without losing information, but you'd be a moron to try it without backingup files. If you break the upgrade, or somethign goes wrong, you can whipe out your whole HDD.
Also, I don't think Halo 2 is worth getting Vista. Halo/Halo 2 both suck. Worst games ever created. Barney Massacre was better.

Agreed, it is just another way for M$ to actually ship the OS, especially if Halo 2 is released shortly after/with Windows vista, this is two years too late, bet this was planned all alongE7IX3R wrote:

I've installed Vista - and it's rock solid. The GUI is nicer, but you are correct in that it is basically an enhanced XP shell. But I tell ya, you run SQL Server - or some other application that can actually take advantage of the 64-bit dual core processor - and it really pays off.
Personally, I could care less about HALO... but the idea of a base level 64bit support for applications makes me smile.
Its not all sunshine and daisies - the market is still trying to get up to speed on providing good Drivers that support Vista (if yer over the age of 25 you may remember the initial launch of XP and all the driver nightmares that caused....its gonna happen again to some degree).
In closing - yes.. its more money for Microsoft... If you think thats a scam, I'm sure you stick to that moral code and donate every extra dollar you earn to charity and plan on voting for Clinton or some other wack job left wing socialist that throws their hat in the ring. I'm SOOOOO tired of people acting like companies shouldn't make a profit on products that come to market. Go install FreeLinux on your home built 286 and STFU.

Halo was great, for a Xbox launch game it was definately the strongest one.
For one thing, you can't carry a godforsakenly large amount of weapons, only 2, which gives a few tactical options should you choose etc., also, who can't forget the sticky grenades? ^_____^
Halo 2 was alot worse in Single-Player though, but Multiplayer with Live is just awesome.
if u've seen the spec list for vista u'd realise it's NOT just a prettier xp, it works TOTALY differently and only top specced rigs will realistically be able to run it
i have tried windows vista beta verson and i can tell you its crap it needs a minimum of 2GB of RAM to run all those pretty little windows and shit the new start bar and all that will look like this
when i get home i may post more screenies of it as i am at work at the moment
you guys all do relise that windows vista is going to be aload fo crap, if you make a dvd or copy a dvd/cd it will only be able to be played on that pc, it is supposed to be impossible to "hack" pfffft M$ said that about XP and what have 99% of us got, fake full versions of XP, vista will not be the dream you expect it to be its gonna have long loads times and is going to be a pile of crap to do anything with it i had to run virtual pc on it and also set everything to run in back compativle XP. One good side of it is going to be full 64bit support.

Hahaha, we don't need no stinkin Halo. CS:S, BF2, and just about every other PC game are better than Halo. The only reason Halo is so popular is because it came up with a control scheme for FPS's on consoles that would work.
Halo 2 is cool. Dual wielding kicks ass. And turning off sigs will not take a load of the bf2s.com server because most of the time the sigs are being requested from another website.
