Only touches the floor if floored.
From experiance.. European cars have the accelerator starting at the floor:

BMW for example:

i've got about £1,600 saved for a car, will be adding to the "car fund" soon, so will probly be more like £1,800 when it comes down to buying a car.
For that money you can get a decent Golf (classic Mini you're looking at more money unless you want a rust bucket), get an oldish 3 series if you want something with a little class, or an A4 if the maintenance/insurance costs of the 3 series bother you, they're all plenty fast enough to lose you your license quite quickly

If you just want a decent reliable car that'll last you a couple of years without too much depreciation any small diesel will do, they go forever, 150k miles is basically barely used lol (as long as it's serviced properly) like I said earlier my 206 is about to hit 250k miles and it's still running like new, not particularly exciting to drive but, you can have some fun with it, and considering all new drivers are on a 2 year probationary period where potentially just one offence will take your nice shiny license off you, if you're looking for an exciting car you can wave bye bye to your license

/party pooper

(get a 3 series )

Congrats on passing.  Makes me feel old.  I've been driving longer than most forum members have been alive.  Then again, I've also been out of high school longer than most forum members have been alive.

Hmmm, come to think of it, better revise that.  I've been out of college longer than most of you guys have been alive.

What happens if it took you no less than eight attempts to pass? What do you call them?

Well, I can only remember the pedals of two cars, a Mitsu and  Toyota, both had the accelerator unconnected to the floor. I drove my mate's Golf once, can't recall how it was. Also think another friend's Nissan has it hanging down.
