My point is that if you can get approved for $1k a month in rent you can get approved for a $30k loan.
Why would they need approval to pay rent? Frankly, you have no point and you're just being a pedantic idiot right now.
You didn't have to pass a credit check to rent?  Most people do.  Every place I have lived since moving out has required a credit check to be on the lease.

Call me what you like, I was just wondering if the example you provided had any basis in reality.  I guess not.

It did. They could've bought the house for $45k. The loan wasn't the issue, it was the $80k on top of it they would've had to put into the house to make it habitable.

And if you presented this to the bank they would have told you to get lost. Banks are trying to dump distressed properties, not lend on them. I have had people with PERFECT credit not be able to get loans without an insane amount of money down (renters aren't concerned with closing cost). The lending industry isn't always logical.. especially after taking it in the nuts for three years.

I'm looking into mountain-side real estate.  Shits cheap.  Nothing much -a few cabins to rent out... As to the OP?  Fuck the Chinese.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

Nah.  Actually, I was up there recently. Check Boone/Blowing Rock. Around the ASU area.

Over here they usually just take a deposit(worth a month rent) and if you miss more then 2 months rent the landlord evicts you. That is from my own personal experience and what others have told me.

Banks are making no sense right now.. It's sort of a changing thing day by day and next to impossible to do anything other then a purchase right now.. But what if china brings in cash and buys large parts of this country, I'm pretty sure we've already sold our ports and most of our pay roads..
