I've seen the same lack of understanding of the audience spun by the right-wing pundits, as well. They took the lack of reaction from the cadets as vindication of their own views.
It's pretty simple: Those cadets knew cameras were on them. So they locked it up. Period.
I actually thought the end of the speech where he talked about how the US wasn't about occupation but was about freedom of all people was great (at least what I could hear around my three year old climbing all over me).
That probably would've gotten multiple standing ovations during a State of the Union address--from both sides of the aisle. But not from that audience.
If Barry had wanted massive crowd reaction, that (or either of the other two Service Academies) was the wrong place to go for it--regardless of the topic at hand.
