I normally bet a couple quid on a wild accumulator, 7,8,9 fold or whatever on the big teams to win, won £80 once, spent about £30 on them though.

For example, with a 2.0 odds you end up with double the money you started with. You bet £2 and win, you end up with £2*2.0=£4.

Those £4 include the £2 you bet, so you really only win £2.

Ah right. With the odds I posted (in case anyone doesn't get it) - 10/23 - for every 23 you bet, you win 10 back, so you'd end up with 33 pounds total.

I've watched my friends lose tens of thousands of dollars on sports betting in the last 2 years. No thanks.

Tips - don't bet on sports. Definitely don't try to bet on the second half of games to try to win back your initial bet.

The lines are set up to induce betting - they aren't necessarily what the bookies think is going to happen, they are what they think will draw the most action. Bookies make money no matter if you win or lose because they are charging juice on every bet.

My friends make the same argument. I enjoy sports enough that I don't need to put money on a game to make it more interesting, but that's just me.
