Despite being governed by people who couldn't organise a shag in a brothel, Australia and Australians seem to be doing quite well.

Australia has the second highest average wealth in the world at US $397,000 behind only Switzerland with US $540,010.

The Credit Suisse 2011 Global Wealth report, which surveyed the world's 4.5 billion adults, also revealed that Australia's median wealth is the highest in the world at US $220,000.

A large part of the average wealth gain can be attributed to a 20 % jump in the AUD against the USD, as well as income gains on the back of solid resource-driven economic strength, the report said.

Australia also fares positively in terms of its spread of wealth compared to other developed countries. For example, US mean wealth stands at US $250,000 while its median wealth is only US $52,000. In Australia the mean wealth is US $400,00 while median wealth is US $220,000.

As much as I rate Rudd over Gillard, a second leadership coup in two years would be the death knell of the Labor Government and the party knows it. This "Rudd is thinking of taking the leadership back" talk has been promoted mostly by the Coalition and Coalition-friendly News Ltd. papers because it gives them grounds to start harping on about how the Government is dealing with in-fighting and is unstable - all that good stuff we've heard time and time and time again. Nothing the Government has said has even hinted at any leadership problems and the Coalition trying to make every cough seem like the Bubonic Plague is pathetic.

I wanted to hear Rudd say "He knew the rules, he fucked up, how is it my problem? Fuck the little shit, and his mum."

Harry Jenkins is out and Peter Slipper is in and Tony Abbott is throwing his toys out of the cot.

Abbott's now in a pretty difficult position. I mean now that he can't as easily moan and gripe about the hung Parliament and he hasn't exactly proved himself to be good at anything else.

I bet Slipper has very few friends in the Coalition at the moment.

It's actually quite interesting, Abbott was the one person in the Liberal Party who saw this coming. Slipper has been challenged in his seat for the Liberal pre-selection with the party wanting to bring in Mal Brough. However Abbott didn't want this as Brough is a potential leader threat to him. He also realised more than anyone else that Slipper's dissatisfaction with the party in its attempts to push him out of his seat made him a target for Labor to court for the speaker's role. Slipper himself was in a vulnerable position, potentially losing his seat and his job, of course he would jump into a lucritive and secure position if given the chance. Abbott knew all this and couldn't do a thing about it. Now he's bitching and moaning about the Government playing dirty politics but he's just pissed off that he's been tactically out-done. The Liberal Party really shot themselves in the foot with how they treated Slipper and it'll hurt Abbott more than anyone.

All Abbott's negativity and obstructionist politics has amounted to nothing thus far and now with this he's been hamstrung. Sucks to be him. He might actually have to try making some policy and portray himself as an attractive alternate PM instead of just huffing and puffing and trying to blow the house down.
