SCOTT Watters and John Longmire want performances from their players that befit the spirit of Anzac Day, when the teams clash in Wellington on Thursday.

St Kilda and the Sydney Swans will compete in the first home-and-away game outside Australia and are seeking commensurate effort from their players to mark the occasion.

Watters, who was involved in two Anzac Day games as an assistant coach at Collingwood, said his players had the chance to "show what they stand for" on an international stage.
now i like john longmire but gyaaaaaaaaaaaah

I hate the RSL's on Anzac day, making money off pokies and cheap alcohol from veterans without actually being a veterans support community that it was intended to be.

It's astounding how a bar can have pokies. australia is the only place in the world that allows it. Keep that shit to casinos, at least be honest about it.

Apparently he's conflicted over which name to pick as King.

Charles the Last, George the Last, Binky the Last - I don't see how it matters.

It'll take a while before I take "Professor" Palmer's election bid seriously. Within a year he's said he would run for Lilley, (even putting up a billboard,) then Kennedy, now Fairfax. His ego is running a little unchecked at the moment, I'm sure when he gets it under control he'll abandon the whole thing.

The thing is Palmer's an exceptionally poor loser. Look what happened when Gold Coast United football team finished bottom of the A-League - he quit the team from the league to start his own! He's got it in his head that as he's a national treasure, (what idiot gave him that title!?) and that he's hugely popular. But the truth is most couldn't give a fuck about him. They see a fat sweaty billionaire who's more concerned throwing away his money on replica Titanics and robotic dinosaurs than helping to run a country. Putting himself on the ballot leaves it open for him to be conclusively shown that he's not the people's darling he likes to think of himself as. The question isn't really "Will Clive run for Parliament?" it's "Will Clive risk losing"? and I don't think he's got the courage for that.

Fully prepared to be proved wrong though. I imagine if he fails he'll just claim that it was all part of some grand plan.

I wouldn't be against Clive being in the house. It would finally give him a mandate for interfering in politics other than "I'm a rich guy, pay attention to me!" I also think his model for dealing with asylum seekers would be far more effective than anything the Coalition or Labor has brought up so far. However economically he'd just work to ensure the best deal for rich buggers like himself and campaign to carve up the country among his mining mates.

Good that he's, (at this stage,) running for an LNP seat I suppose, anything that might keep Tony out of the Lodge is okay by me.

Clive is hilarious. I wouldn't be against him as an MP either, it'd actually shake things up a bit and introduce some new ideas into the place - even if he is a filthy rich, thouroughly self-interested fucker.
