I accidently clicked this thread while trying to get to EE (hats, but you best mean 8 sets or something Finray. I don't even work out on a regular basis and I'd need at least 50 to feel something.

Deadlifts (I know, legs mainly, but it goes in with back routine for me)
Seated rows
U-grip pulldowns
Reverse fly's

Then Triceps.

Then 30 Wide grip assisted pull-ups to knacker me.

Hmm okay.

I do DL's on leg day. Personal preference I guess.

Mine's like this:
-Lat Pulldown
-Seated Rows
-Lat Pushdowns
-(assisted) wide grip pull-ups

then triceps aswell

you think that's sufficient?

Yeah i guess, but like you said, personal preference.
I like DL on back day because I find it works my lower back quite well and helps my posture a bit, part of the reason I do more exercises for back than chest.
Pull ups are good, so I like to just fatigue myself on them at the end to really push myself.

Jebus, are you doing straight leg deadlifts? Or normal ones?

For me, at least, normal deadlifts are much more a back workout (with the main target being the erector spinae) and a must for back day. They also make my hamstrings sore, so I usually just trade off by not doing a hamstring-specific exercise on legs day.

Other than that looks like you've got everything covered on back day.

I do normal ones, yes. Do them on leg day as I don't do many legs exercises anyway (if I do too many my knees start hurting.. ) so only

Leg Press/Squats, Calve Raises and Deadlifts forme.

Home do you do Straight leg ones? Sounds like the same muscles as me. I always wondered how people got leg work out of them when it's always been my lower back that feels worked.

No, I do the normal (not straight leg) ones. It's supposed to be normal deadlifts target the erector spinae (those two long muscles on either side of your spine) and straight leg deads target the hamstrings. However, in both exercises the other muscle is a synergist so you're probably going to feel it in both muscles no matter which kind you're doing. Unless one muscle is much stronger than the other, maybe your hamstrings are much stronger than your lower back, and that's why you feel it there?

Seems good to me, I have a ways to go on legs so maybe I'm not the best guy to ask but I think if you are squatting heavy and with good form it works your entire legs pretty well. So doing squats, calf raises and deads should be a sufficient legs day, I wouldn't say that was necessarily "not many leg exercises" nawmean

Doesn't matter Sonder... Just do your best and work your ass off to get in perfect competition shape and do your best.. I think you'll learn loads from that competition.. Good luck.

By the way, what is a 'calf horse raise'? Is it a calf donkey raise?

Yea, two plates on the horse.  I do that for reps, but a really slow full raise.  Heels starting from teh floor, raise till toes pointed to floor, hold, release down to starting postion slowly.  you see alot of people "bouncing" up and down on that thing, and its not good for your calves at all.

*I can do more but that weight I can easily control and keep good range of motion etc.

The thing I love about calves training is the burn. Sometimes it's that intense that it starts hurting.

I love training calves ^^
