So, I'm now 84kg and these calipers I bought say my bodyfat is around 16%
A month ago they said I was around 20%. I was 85kg then.
Is this possible, or did I take an incorrect reading at either time? (I rechecked each measurement a good 5 times on both occasions)
So in a month I've lost 2.5kg fat and gained 1.5kg muscle. Yeah? Or is that a bit ambitious? I've upped my weights and/or reps each week and mostly stuck to my diet (had maybe 2 days of cheat meals in a month).

If you're not sleeping you might as well not bother with working out
OT: What are you guys' opinion on a multivitamin per day?
Multivitamins are good, just don't get fooled into buying the really expensive ones. Usually the regular store brand ones do the job fine. They're just a basic low level supplement but every little helps...
That's how I see it

I take Swisse Men's Ultivite. It turns my piss fluro but it's pretty well recommended, or so I've read anyway. Dunno if you get it outside of Australia and NZ though.
Well X-Plode and SuperPump WERE the pioneer preworkouts and still are very popular. I havent taken NOXplode in probably two years. I switched to NO Shotgun since it had 20g of whey protein isolates in it. After I got sick of shotgun I went with Jack3d and then 1MR. Jack3d and 1MR were recommended to me by a few of the competitive bodybuilders at my gym as a great pre-workout. I just now started using Hemo Rage this week. Its currently the "in" pre-workout with bodybuilders around here.Zimmer wrote:
I haven't tried Supreme, that's the ones I'm getting next.
Which one is the best out of the 3 you mentioned? For the past 3 years in Bodybuilding, NO-Xplod and Superpump have trumped everything else, but then again it's down to everyones tolerance. 1MR looks pretty good, especially as they say "only one scoop", but then again I try and not read into all the little "amazing" sentences that make you want to buy the product.
I like concentrated preworkouts like 1MR, Jack3d, and Hemo Rage since they are ultra concentrated and only take one scoop. Generally they are cheaper than teh Gaspari and BSN counterparts (which require 2-3 scoops) and the supply lasts longer (4-6 weeks depending on split).
Of course there's a taste offset too. While SuperPump is the best tasting flavor set of NO supps the concentrated ones generally taste like chalky gatorade. Hemo Rage tasts like fuckign cough syrup but gives a great energy boost and a spectacular pump (talking swollen up muscles and fucking 3D vascularity) 1Mr tastes ok, provides a good sustained energy boost and a good pump as well. Jack3d is pretty powerful stuff, not as good as the other two but still better than BSN and Gaspari IMO.
It's hard finding the right one... My body has a ridiculous tolerance level to any substances that affect your system (energy, concentration etc) and it's hard to find something that really hits me.
I guess Hemo Rage is the best I'm going to find to actually give me a pump. To put my tolerance to substances in perspective, I can clean off an entire bottle of whisky in under 45 minutes and be sober/very slightly tipsy. My body seems to expel all foreign substances with ridiculous efficacy, which makes it hard to do anything but consume natural products - and they will never give you a good enough pump.

Yeah. I have a pretty high tolerance to stimulants and other things as well. try 1MR and Hemo then. I think you'll like it. Hemo seriously tastes like cherry cough syrup. its fucking nasty, but it had me going nuts last two nights. Great energy and motivation, pump was really nice too.Zimmer wrote:

Hmm....ON Rocky Road is....meh, so far. It's abit too marshmallow for my taste, but then afterwards it started being more chocolatey. It's alright, I'll acquire the taste for this.
What are you taking it with? Milk or water? I find ON stuff tastes like 500% better with milk than it does with water, whereas Gaspari tastes decent with both.Mekstizzle wrote:

I just bought Chocolate Mint and I'm quite happy with it. I actually don't care about the taste anymore, just as long as it isn't gagworthy.
@ Sonder - Will do, my next stop will be Hemo Rage.
If my protein powder is a stack with BCAAs in it, I don't need to supp with BCAA tabs, do I?
Milk, I've tried taking these things with water. Never again. It's not that bad really, I started liking it more when I got towards the end of drinking it so it's one of those acquired tastes
I ran out of skim milk and used full cream instead. Doesn't mix as well, a little lumpy.
No. you don't.Jaekus wrote:

Skimmed or semi skimmed? I always advise semi skimmed milk, the fat from milk is very good for you, especially for building.
semi-skimmed or whole milk. Well, it's not really semi-skimmed. I usually do 100ml whole milk and 100-150ml water and mix it. Infact I've begun to realise that the whole semi-skimmed milk industry is a giant scam when you can just dilute whole milk if you ever feel the need.
Whole milk shakes always give you that nice full feeling

I use iFitness to log my workouts. You have to buy it (it's not expensive) but it's good. Still needs further tweaking and retina support but I find it very useful. Well worth the money IMO.
Seriously? A whole bottle in 45 mins? I don't think I know anyone who could do that and still be standing.Zimmer wrote:

For some reason my app store wont show me that one. I guess I like mine enough but they make the graph to view my progress a little confusing. Maybe I just need to mess around some more. I figure when it comes down to it with the apps, its mostly preference and at a certain point you're just splitting hairsJaekus wrote:

Dunno. Here's a review anyway - http://www.whatsoniphone.com/reviews/ifitness-review

I don't even realise, granted it's either with coke or ice, so it's a lot easier than it sounds at first.ghettoperson wrote:

The only time I've ever K.O'ed was when I downed an entire bottled of Vodka in 15 seconds for a dare. I was out cold for 3 hours, but was fine afterwards. You can call bullshit all you want, but the story behind this was that I was told to drink to the bottom of the label, but I had a Russian Standard Vodka, and there's an extra part below the label (the little red circle) so I took that as the end of the label and nearly finished it off (two fingerfuls left or so).
It's not good to have this high a tolerance, it makes for expensive nights and health concerns if I drink so much.
But hey ho, believe what you want. It's nothing to be proud of.
What's some good post (intense) jogging food? Would it be similar to normal work out stuff? o.O
On the plus side, the squash seems to be improving my fitness. I've finally powered up the massive fuckoff hill at the end of my running route without ending up gasping for air

I'm no expert, but an insulin spike can help you here, from what I've read. Stuff like white bread etc, even though that's generally considered a no-no when it comes to regular diet.
Again, no expert talking, but you want complex carbs after working out, and most definitely a recovery shake. Glycogen stores are depleted so replenish them with a good protein/BCAA stack, and always plenty of water.
If I'm correct then please explain. I'm only attempting to share knowledge, and if incorrect I'd like to know how, so I can learn more.

Jaekus is correct here. I wouldn't say white bread is a no no, though. It's a quick energy solution, it's just not recommended every day or every other day.
Also, minty... Intense and jogging do not go hand in hand
I'd just take half of a protein scoop, a banana and a lot of water. That should do the trick. If you have quick oats or something then that would work as well. The most important thing is what you take during heavy cardio. I recommend some protein and water (or an energy drink).
Squash is an intense sport, it should be improving your fitness if you're playing it correctly.
BCAA stack definitely, but most decent protein shakes have a BCAA stack in them as well.
So after a filling Xmas, it's back to intense working out. Seems my arms enjoyed the rest from working out:
Before a workout. Need to tone them down a bit and improve my shoulders - I couldn't do any shoulder exercises due to an impingement in my rotator cuff. I've had to do all chest exercises with a shoulder support, but it's finally out of it and for some reason my right side is now getting stronger than my left. That's strange because I'm entirely left side, everything is stronger there (not bigger, I try and keep sizes equal).
Trick with arms is less is more. The less you concentrate on them and you do other exercises, the more they will respond. I used to be determined to have huge arms and did arm exercises every second day, with little effect. Now I barely do them once a week, because exercises like flys, presses, squats - they all work out your biceps to a certain extent.
Anywho, I've been a good 3.5kg of muscle in the past few months. Concentrating on toning size down though, and making everything more vascular and toned.
An updated on SuperPump250 - It fails for me. I took 3.5 scoops (maximum amount allowed is 3) and all it did was quench my thirst. Now, this doesn't mean it won't work for you guys, it tastes great and is made by Gaspari so there must be some good in it. Unfortunately I've far surpassed the normal pre-workout NO drinks and will have to be getting on 1M.R. or Hemo Rage soon if I ever want an energy boost for my workouts.
Met-Rx bars are fucking awesome though, make you shit like nobodys business for the first day or so, but then you're fine afterwards.
I'm going to update my workout thread - Jaekus, Jebus, Sonder, want to help me finish it off?
I need to get tables done for all muscle departments (I've already made one for chest) and it'd be great to get some help from you guys. I'd like Sonder to do legs, as you're the pro on that muscle group. I can do arms and stomach and you guys could fill in back and shoulders if you wish.
Thoughts?
