You seem to forget that not everyone on this website is America. I'm sorry that your knowledge of the world outside you is so limited. You didn't even bother to do check what conscription times are in different countries, but immediately jumped to the conclusion that I had been kicked out, and in addition to that presumed that the reason for being kicked out was because I'm gay.

When coming from you, it can be seen as a personal attack. Based on your posts, also calling someone a muslim equals a personal attack, especially when you know that he/she isn't, and ESPECIALLY because you should know (if you don't have difficulties reading the forums because you're blinded by the awesomeness of your own posts) that I'm not gay. Since you know I'm not, and since it's you who's posting, I'm considering it as an insult. Had you asked "are you gay?", I would've said "no" and then we would have moved along.

Did you ever get hazed during your 4 years for being gay? <- same approach as you just had.

So you have 9 month enlistments? which country? Maybe you can explain how you can join up, go through training, go to school for your job, get proficient enough to actually be useful, and apply that new found knowledge where it might actually do some good all in 9 months.

it's plenty of time in the Army for BCT, Infantry AIT and then just a few months of active duty

How much of your service was during peace time or in the rear? I spent 2 1/2 years in the rear before I deployed and most of my time was spent in the motor pool rearranging conex's or PMCSing trucks or doing inventories. Spent maybe 2 weeks a year in the field and the rest of the time doing busywork.

fist two years was security forces...so that was shift work basically for a week, then the field the following week.  rinse and repeat.

next two were some deployments, evacs of some embassies, ranges, etc.

then two wars.

not much sitting.  lots of drinking though.

My BCT + AIT was 11 months combined.

Word, but I was just figuring that if they only have 9 months of service, then infantry wouldn't be too surprising. Since I think the main idea of a lot of these compulsory services is to have their citizens be more disciplined and somewhat ready to fight if war comes home.

lawl. They wouldn't stand for more than a day or so against a disciplined opponent. Yes, yes, the Winter War but that was against inept leadership and a purely conscript army.
