Ever since them DAMN Infantry only servers fukked up ALL my favourite servers
and all that BATTLEFIELD stands for is FUKKED UP ... how can you decide to make
NEW Rules of Engagment ??? I dont know a single server that has Rules that make SENSE to me ... do you ??
Dont get me wrong here if people want to get points on a IO server thats fine with me
ADMINS make time limit in their server 120 minutes LONG !!! its fine with me
If some MORON wants to JIHAD jeep ...THATS FINE WITH ME
If you want to be a COMMANDER and drive an APC (sometimes the DAMN armour stands in Main base untouched!!! ) THATS FINE WITH ME !!!!

wow, i must be obsessed... i just spent the last 2 hours reading through the first 7 pages straight O.o
anyways, some personal comments about the forum itself :
-i dont like long forums becuz u generally have to read through the whole god damn thing to understand it all
-too many people who can't keep it civil and have to for some reason (maybe they're not intelligent enough to do so appropriately) through in a whole arsenal of obcene language to be (in their point of view) understood, which they are certainly not helping by bad spelling.

about the ROE :
well, i havn't actually read it and don't really plan to do so but from what i'm reading here (and by god I read a lot, although not as much as some people here, mainly the mods) it seems EA is taking a perfectionist approach to the game. in all my fifteen and a half years of life (yes, yes I am young compared to more than a handful of gamers here) perfectionism and fun never go hand in hand; ever.
to do so strips everyone of their freedom and thus their ways to have fun. certainly lots of people would be more than happy to oblige the ROE but a lot of people would also be happy to burn it.
as many people have stated before me, banning hacking and stat padding are all good rules but going to the trouble of trying to control the very way people play is unreasonable.
also, i also found it odd that infantry only and no artillery maps are considered stat padding. i've played a lot of infantry only and no artillery maps and i have not seen, heard or experienced in any way, an air of artificially (more like with ease) bolstering your scores.

i think EA should leave the rules at this :

-no actions purposefully committed that degrade your team's chances of winning
-commander's not fulfilling the following (unless of course they can't (i.e. asset destroyed, asset recharge)
-giving artillery strikes where needed or asked for
-giving supply crates where needed or asked for
-giving orders when asked for
-providing UAV support when needed or asked for
-providing vehicle transport when asked for
-teamkilling excessively (more than three-five times i say)
-using a vehicle repeatedly when not adequately skilled to provide any support (if you can't drive practice
in single player please) or using a vehicle repeatedly with the intention of doing absolutely nothing
-no using abusive language with the intent of antagonizing somebody, no racism, etc.
-no hacking
-no statpadding (all the norms with that word except i believe infantry only and no artillery maps are perfectly
reasonable)
-anything else may be added by the server. if not everything excluding all of the above is legitimate.

i probably missed some stuff here, feel free to add on or dismiss this or add this (or portions) to the rest of the big pile. i'm done with this thread either way.

is it just me or does it seem like people get whiner and whiner about rules everyday? i mean come on. i came up with the c4 jeep thing back in Vietnam! (the game not the actual war) its fun and isn't that what the point of the GAME is? to have fun? but if you want a real explanation other than "its fun!!!" then try this - in a real war you do the best with what you've been given and you modify tactics accordingly. if the other team gets the idea to put c4 on their jeeps and drive at you then you learn to shoot them faster and not let them get close. if you decide to throw c4 out of a helo while your buddy resupplies you then the other guys better come up with something to counter it. you constantly adapt to new tactics in real life and the same is true in the game. i don't think rules of engagement have any place at all in BF2.

All you people whining... who actually cares about these bullshit rules like "No more Jihad-jeeping!" anyways? At any given time on any given server you have at least 5-10 people breaking some kind of a Rules of Engagement rule. This shit is more like a guideline, so take it as such.

Yes, I know of the one pure BF2 server left without any artificial rules added, no leftovers from past FPS games just pure BF2 - just "don't be a porwigle and hack the game or spew a flood of nonsense in the game voip/chat, you know, good table manners." The art of jihad jeeping is practiced, teamwork, and oh the minor stuff like strategy and tactics abound. You must attack and defend because the admins will not kill clever enemies for you, if you don't like being raped or camped then you need to get a squad together and go kill them rapers. It's total war, no where to run, no place to hide.

Yes i know where that single server is.

Code it don't ROE it.

Kinda Ironic.

Thing is, REAL LIFE WAR HAS RULES. Those rules include being ethical to your enemy. You're not supposed to attack the enemy that has no strategic value to you. You need to treat the enemy with respect (prisoners), etcetera.

So why can't a game based on real war have rules too? If you do not like the rules set out by the game developers, don't play on ranked servers. You can play all the multi-player games that you feel like, but as soon as you enter that ranked server, you agree to the rules, no matter what they are.

If you are really that upset with the ROE, play unranked. It's your choice and whichever you chose you must live with the decision. There is only 2 differences:

1. ROE doesn't govern unranked servers, but they do ranked.

2. Unranked gets no points toward ranks/awards, ranked does.

So choose the path you like. When you make that choice, don't complain about it.

In My opinion we must take attitude about this EA behaviour TO ERASE ACCOUNTS, at least to talk, is our single army against EA GAMES. Muzicant, you'll never win in a legal battle against EA for something like resetting your account. If you read the terms of service when you make a BF2 account, it probably says that they reserve the right to do whatever they want with the account. You never own the account, EA is basically letting you use it and can take it at any time.

As far as I know, BF2RS was made before BF2 came out. BFROE was founded later on by IndianScout after he left BF2RS. I do agree that they should tell you when you register that you must follow the ROE if you don't want to get reset.

Edit: I don't get it... what exactly are you supposed to use the 3 rear slots in a blackhawk for, transport only? If so, why are they open so you can "chunk" C4 out or use the wrench? Is it ok to resupply people throwing grenades and mines, but not C4? Is it not ok to resupply anyone in a chopper? Under the same logic, is it then also not ok to be a medic inside a Blackhawk? And is using C4 in a Blackhawk ok so long as you don't resupply? Or perhaps, only resupply upon landing? What if you get resupplied by hovering over a supply crate instead of with the support class? Perhaps EA needs to rethink how the Support class works if it's going to even consider limiting gameplay in this fashion?

I think these BFROE ppl and their ROE are a bunch of ppl sick of seeing people that have better scores because they are better then them. So they are trying to remove many means of getting many points in a round and are trying to stop servers from creating their own rules. This is total bs since that means that the server I pay for I cant even put rules on. I mean god dammit its like renting a house, its my property meaning i should be able to do what i want with it. Not that I will BAN every single one of you if i get the chance... But I want to be able to regulate my server from ppl who break rules or stats padders without being afraid of having BFROE coming along and resetting my stats and shutting down my server. I mean not only does this ruin people fun of having pistol/knives servers but also it almost wastes all the time ppl put into BF2 if they reset stats for their own ROE reasons.

Im sorry if this has been asked and answered in here. Its just that there's so many posts now its taking ages to read through them all to see. Plus search just finds whole reams of text that is just as time consuming to go through. My question is:

Ive read in lots of places the IO is illegal and you can have your stats wiped if your caught on one of the servers. Ive also read the ROE that state this. However, there is an option to search for servers without vehicles so surely if there is an official filter then it cant be illegal?

IO is by no means illegal. Well, actually since it's a game, the term "illegal" doesn't apply anywhere in game. "Forbidden" might be a more correct term when speaking of "wrongdoings" in a game.

Since IO was introduced as a feature in the game, it has been allowed. Before this, I have not heard of a single case of player resets because of playing "home made IO". The server admins might have gotten negative feedback for this, but that's about it.

Before IO was introduced as a feature, "Infantry Only" was also used as a "codename" for K/P or, "boost ya stats here".

It's allowed. Don't worry.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Was a bit worried for second. As I dont stat pad and do try to gain awards the proper way eg. getting 7 knife kills in a proper server and NOT a pistols/knives server.

Blah blah, this whole repair/resupply/heal thing is in the tutorial, it clearly states in that annoying voice that you will do these things automaticly. I love the blackhawk because of the way with 2 engineers it's a flying tank (with crappy guns, but a tank none the less). Pish, I see no problem here.
