The two time I road tripped with my mom to a dispensary with my mom, she paid with debit card. I guess I could do that. Ken, do you want my debit card number? I have a checkbook too.

The marijuana people there asked me to come over and view the different strains they have in their little glass things. The guy that was 'helping her' said "don't be afraid, you can come close and look at it" to me. He knew. They all must have known.

I was at another dis-pen whatever and saw two guys in their 30's leading their 90 year old grandmother out of the place with smiles on their face. I know your sins. God knows yours sins.

my point is i don’t dismiss peer-reviewed work? so why would the burden of proof be on me?

news as of yesterday:

https://globalnews.ca/video/8497644/psy … -in-canada

canada approves psychedelics for medical use.

so i guess his research can’t have been that ‘bogus’, eh?

Drugs of all kinds have been approved for medical use, still doesn't mean teenagers should use them for entertainment, just as ECT has its place doesn't mean kids should stick their fingers in power sockets.

Do we have to do this again?

where did david nutt advocate for teenagers to take drugs? he has dedicated his entire career to minimising drugs harm — just he rightly considers alcohol a part of that picture, which you don’t like to hear.

you should listen to the radio show. he sounds pretty sensible tbh. and he chooses some nice pieces.

nice leap. lmao drugs for medical use = teenagers using it for recreational purposes xD.

he thinks that’s what i’m arguing for, when i’m not.

dilbert doesn’t like having it pointed out to him that his favourite tipple is pretty objectively Bad for you and that a society of alcohol-drinkers waving their fingers at drug users and declaring that x-y-z (comparatively) harmless chemicals should be banned is tantamount to a society of fucking moralising hypocrites.

nobody who regularly enjoys the legal consumption of alcohol can moralise about the harms of recreational drug use. alcohol IS already a massive social problem.

After the worst hangover of my life, I am quitting drinking. Special occasions and "dinner and drinks at my place" are the exceptions. But having a glass or two of wine after work or hanging out at the local bar waiting for a NPC to give me a quest? Those days are done.

Marijuana is so much better. Especially vaporized marijuana. I could get very high between 3 PM and 10 PM and roll out of the house for work well rested at 7 AM like nothing happened the night before. Work doesn't seem so bad when you know you have marijuana and Hearts of Iron at home waiting for you.

I had a nice petite verdot last night with dinner. Been waiting about 4 months to open the bottle and it didn't disappoint. I bought it at a winery but I found the same vintage online so I'm going to order a few more bottles.

NYC is going to start issuing licenses to sell pot in the city. People who were convicted or marijuana crimes or their relatives will be the first to get them.

That's big. I don't know how many low level pot sellers can actually manage to do everything they need to open a legit dispensary but the fact that the government made equity or whatever an objective of legalization is something.

Also, this policy is clearly racist to white people.

the fact that weed went from a life-ruining conviction in new york state (especially with that three strikes shit) to a lucrative business opportunity and hand-out promotion in the space of about 5 years tells you everything you need to know about the insanity of drugs laws.

bet some people have done at least a decade behind bars because of that little plant.

I think a lot of people who died of heroin overdoses would still be around if they had easy access to pot. Handful of times I did whatever was available because I didn't have access to my drug of choice.

it's been well established in about 14 different ways that the war on drugs/drugs prohibition increases drugs harm, endangers people, and needlessly deepens the suffering of addicts/those in need. yep yep.

Maryland is finally attempting recreational legalization, it's going to the ballot for the November 2022 general election.  The bill to put it to a referendum will only legalize possession and private usage, and that will only kick in on July 1st, 2023, but there also is a companion bill that's contingent on the referendum passing, and that will still need the governor's signature.  That bill will specify the legal amounts for possession(last I heard it will be 1.5 oz) among some other legalization-related things.  Unfortunately we'll only be allowed to grow 2 plants though instead of 6 like all the other legal states, Maryland got a really watered down legalization bill, but it's still progress.  They're going to work on the specifics of recreational sales, such as taxes, licensing, etc next year if the referendum passes.

Yeah, Maryland isn't very progressive for a blue state at all, we still have lots of neoliberal fossils that believe in reefer madness.

I still can't believe Virginia beat us to it, I thought they would be the very last state to legalize it, but they went from completely illegal, to decriminalized, to recreationally legal + recreational market in two years under the leadership of Governor Blackface.  Their recreational market will be up and running in January next year and by that point, Maryland still won't have possession legal for another 6 months assuming the referendum passes, and our General Assembly will still have to work out the deets for a recreational market within that timeframe.  This state really sucks sometimes.  Better late and watered down than never though, because never was what it was starting to feel like.

Just a legal status to some doesn't necessarily mean that a state's laws aren't still screwy regarding marijuana, possession, distribution, growing.
