My brother accidentally stuck a headphone jack in to the usb port on his PC while trying to plug them to the back. The PC shut down and there's some problems with the internet connection now. Tried pinging the other PC and it's giving 75% packet loss.

Any idea what's the problem? Could the network part of the mobo be broken?

Unless he physically damaged the motherboard I don't see how the two could be related.

The PC just shut down when he stuck the jack in to the USB port so I guess something got shorted. Could that have caused something to break on the mobo? The USB port works though.
