I had a month i couldn't even pay myself so i made some cuts and i really felt bad about it but it was the only way. Business is picking up again so hopefully i'll hire more people and help lower unemployment rates.
The company I work for has always been good about yearly raises, but those had to be put off this year. That's the only thing that happened. I'm still employed full time and we haven't had to do any layoffs whatsoever.
Promoted w/ salary increase. hehe.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
Recession hasn't really hit my industry that hard. People will always need advertising and animation for Web and Broadcast...the budgets have dropped, but seem to be coming back now.
Woah, long time no see.
In the shit.
This pay check for 2 weeks of work was more than the whole month of March which was the worst. Things are getting much better.
Good article summarizing the state of employment found on http://www.drudgereport.com/
Jobless rate reaches 9.8 percent in September
I hope the economy is in fact turning around, but these numbers are historic.
Jobless rate reaches 9.8 percent in September
People are giving up and no looking for work which is shrinking the job force (and taxable income).Yahoo Finance wrote:
The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in September, the highest since June 1983, as employers cut far more jobs than expected.

If laid-off workers who have settled for part-time work or have given up looking for new jobs are included, the unemployment rate rose to 17 percent, the highest on records dating from 1994.

The unemployment rate would have topped 10 percent if the labor force hadn't shrank, Fabbri said.

no let up in the work i am doing for the past year.
Doing well. Had maybe one panic month. Didn't have to fire anyone, even though all the practices near by have laid ppl off and the offices are only open 3 days a week. I am actually doing more work than before but racking up lots of bad debt so my actual income is only up a few grand. Developers and builders got hit hard. One developer owes me £15 000. In total I'm owed about £23 000 that I am writing off as bad debt. I can write it off against my tax, so basically I won't be paying any tax for a very long time. The developers have filed for bankruptcy and its looking like ill be luck if I get 1% from the administrators.
Property is volatile and you gotta take the rough with the smooth so it doesn't bother me.

Same job, significantly more pay. This recession has made me fairly wealthy.
