Holy shit heatsinks Batman!!!
I've lost all faith in ASUS, probably will never buy from them again.
I've had my motherboard on my desktop fail three times now, twice I've returned it for a new one and they still failed. An expensive one at the time too (Striker Extreme). The one I have now crashes every day or two, drives me crazy.
My ASUS laptop is dying after less than 1.5 years of having it. It freezes completely all the time now. I cant move it at all when its on or it will freeze.
Stupid POS company

The only problem with your ASUS motherboard is the fact it has Nforce chipset. If you had got Gigabyte nforce board instead, you'd be here complaining how POS company they are.Winston_Churchill wrote:

Not sure what mobo you got now, but RMA is your friend.
PS. Owner/ex-owner of more than 30 ASUS products.

And I've given up on it, theres no point. I'll just get a new one eventually when I go to i7 (especially since it'll make encoding much faster )
That still doesnt explain the laptop, my cousin and I bought the same laptop and both of ours are dying around the same time. It's ridiculous, a laptop should last more than 1.5 years.

My Athlon Asus is still going strong after 5 years.
ASUS laptops? Yeah, I've been hearing horror stories.

I have an old computer with a high end Pentium 2 Running XP. It runs extremely slow and even just surfing the web takes a while. I believe the RAM is no more then 512k (probably less). Would just buying more RAM fix this (obviously not completely)? Or is this a chip problem?
Probably a mixture of things. But yeah, your best bet would be to format that shit, reinstall a fresh clean copy of XP, and upgrade the RAM. Also clean out all the dust. Something like that should be good for just surfing the web
Server that bitch.Narupug wrote:

I have the Asus P6TD Deluxe board for i7 920, and it is a beauty. Runs very cool as well and stable overclock at 4.0GHzWinston_Churchill wrote:

Cheers Enermax! <3Warranty Update
In other enermax news they announc an upgrade of its current 3 year warranty on REVOLUTION85+ and GALAXY EVO PSU series’ to 5 years.
The warranty upgrade is not only valid for newly sold units, but retroactively for all units sold. Owner of these models can simply consider their units to have a 5 year warranty. No additional registration or action is required.
“This warranty upgrade is part of our ongoing 20-year anniversary campaign throughout 2010 to celebrate our achievements during this period and to give back to our valued customers a part of the trust and appreciation, they have shown to us in these 20 years”, Steven Su, founder & president of ENERMAX, elaborates. “When we started 20 years ago, we had yet to establish ourselves in the industry by the innovative energy we stand for today. Our two flagship PSU series’ exemplify our spirit and thus we wanted to match their warranty with what they stand for.”

I'm just a bit confused how you seemed so pleased with such a minimal increase..

my fans are now running at half the speed they used to. Yet got 100mhz extra, and could get some more.Finray wrote:

I am happy with it. Ram also went from 9-9-9-24 to 6-6-6-16

Nice temps too, for that speed. Nice one, all in all.

Not sure if the 300W PSU is enough to run that or not.
With a 5770 you'd be safer going for a 400 at least..ebug9 wrote:

Slightly better RAM, HDD, and PSU for $64 overbudget

If he needs to drop the price this will do him just fine.

People don't seem to like that HD
This is a hundred dollars cheaper so I could spend a little more on a PSU. I know it's a Pentium Dual Core but it's 2.5 ghz.

Edit: oo thanks Ebug
Edit#2: Would it be possible to put the mobo+cpu and some of the parts into an older computer and use them then pull them out and use that setup?

If the hard drive, CD drive and case are still functional and you don't need your old computer then sure feel free to salvage parts.Narupug wrote:
