1GB VRAM is kind of cutting it close nowadays though. But if it runs what you try to run on it, mazel tov.

I switched out the 1GB card for a 2GB today. Going to run just one card still. The 2GB was $10 more.

Just some examples:

Samsung is good. Viewsonic is good. ASUS is good.

All monitors are hilariously top heavy nowadays. Good luck getting any 24 that doesn't wobble.

Acers I've seen recently have a viewing angle of like 3°. Don't know how they get away with it. Philips have cheapened up too.

I have a Samsung 2233RZ.

Highly recommended if you don't need 1080p and want 120Hz

motherofgod finally. server 2012 has an easy to use replication service.

i can finally have a cold spare print server. no more 2 fuckin servers that have to have changes to each one and users always asking which they should be printing to. and no more setting up clusters with all the the bull that entails just to have a 2-node, hot spare fuckin PRINT server. such a waste.

I got this monitor a few months ago. Absolutely no complaints. It certainly isn't the most high performance and it seems a little flimsy but it has been perfect for me so far. Note that I don't hard-core game on it. "Mild-core gaming" is the phrase I would use, take that as you may.
Also, it's thin and light as fuck. It has an external PS and I thought that was a sign of poor(er) quality but again, it's been great since I got it (early February).

I'm actually half-tempted by this:

BenQ Gaming XL2720T Black 27" 1ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 3D-Ready 300 cd/m2 12,000.000:1 (1000:1)

I'd replace my ASUS with it if I needed another good screen at the office. But until then, I think I'd be best off setting aside my hardware budget for a professional screen.

Seems expensive and... Gimmicky.

If I could get that without the 3D and for $200 less I'd go for it. 120hz, 1ms, 27".

Is it possible to run an NVidia card alongside my ATi card for physx and extra monitor support?

I believe it's possible (the physx part), but it's not officially supported and can create driver headaches from what I've heard. Depending on what the cards are, the performance differences are likely to be small and will have no effect in many games.

How many monitors are you looking at running? because most AMD cards from the last few generations have no problem running 4-5 monitors (you just have to use displayport).

Even if both companies cooperated to make it an out-of-the-box feature, I wouldn't trust driver stability for it. Not when I've had to roll back both AMD and NVIDIA drivers to get things to work before.

need teh helpz!

I've got a doctor who wants this:

A form that has dropdown boxes, radio buttons, etc. and what they choose will fill another page (could be database, excel, but hopefully just a simple word processor paragraph) that informs the Dr on the health of the patient.

So a family would come into the waiting room and would be handed a tablet that would have the form w/ dropdown boxes, etc., would complete it then press "finished" or whatever those answers would be transferred to a document the Dr could quickly read and deduce what was going on with that patient.

pleaseandthankyou

I know how to make basic forms like that in Word but not Adobe, and no idea how to have another page reference those answers...

sounds like a website sort of thing. afaik it's not too hard to do but i don't know a whole lot about it. maybe you can look for something online where you can just fill in what options you want and copy/paste the HTML over to your webserver?
