I'd have all the side fans pulling out if your graphics card(s) don't put out their heat outside of the case. Otherwise, have them push in.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Impressive. 125w and 48-cores. Although I fear the single thread performance is not on par with the normal offering, strictly for number crunching. And costs arm, leg, left nut and liver.
Nevertheless, commerically available, IA-32 compatible, 48-core CPUs is an interesting prospect...

Does anyone know a quick and easy way (preferrably without the need for much new software) to sample some sound from an .avi-file and save it as .wav or .mp3?
I'd have tried that with Windows movie maker but apparently windows 7 blabla (the one I have...) doesn't have it installed.

Adding sound to video is called 'muxing', or multiplexing. You need a de-muxer.. or use any video editing software that lets you see both the video and audio channels, and just delete the video, and render.

Thanks! any recommendations on which software I could use? Bonus points for freeware...

Uh, they haven't announced that yet.

There is program for universities and research establishments to sign up and get them - but they are going to be normal CPUs, for normal sockets on normal motherboards. Therefore they would be viable for home users and particularly some businesses. Why would Intel not sell them when there would clearly be a market for them?

Where have Intel said they won't be available to the public? It's a product with more commercial appeal than the Tesla series cards from nVidia, also targeted at universities and research establishments, and they are available to the public and were announced in a similar fashion.

You did ask for a decent setup and Z-5450 are decent. Anything above its price will be out of your budget for several decades so its a waste of time to search for a different setup.

You've heard wrong.

They're not the best. But for the price they offer very good value for money.

If your main goal is to BOUM the shit out of your neighbours, then yes. Otherwise, I'd say that most of their systems are rather poor overall.

Alternatives? Doesn't have to be wireless, would be nice though.

It's for a home theater, not for gaming.
