As opposed to HD Audio. The front audio connector. I want a new case anyway so it's an excuse to get one versus waiting till I upgrade at the end of the year.
I didn't think anyone used front panel connectors with higher end sound cards. It seems sort of silly to put money into it, and then run it through EMI hell on often shoddy assemblies.

I feel sorry for anyone who paid for the latest Bitdefender. It's fucking awful, and I couldn't figure out how to turn off that stupid fucking popup that it sticks on every webpage. It used to be so good. Oh well, MSE for me I guess.

Just had to replace my video card. Went from 512MB to 2GB.

Died hard.

Very.

No idea what happened. Worked in the AM when I left for work, didn't when I came home. So broken I could only fully boot in safe mode, or with generic drivers. Anything else and it essentially died after the splash screen. Plus the omnipresent green blocks during BIOS screen and green wavy lines at all times...

Doesn't matter. BF3's min specs are 512MB. Time for a new card, regardless.

No kidding it's old. I'm sure the dust and shit built up on the fan didn't help things...

The new card is about a third the size and doesn't require additional power.

6970. You can Xfire that shit later.

Also, my second comp's still rocking a BFG 7950GT. I'd bought a 9800GT, but it broke, and BFG is out of business so the warranty is useless.

Yeah but I'm pretty sure they let you return your broken card, and then pay up the difference on a newer model saving you cash, or they'll at least send you a new card which you could then sell.

You should. EVGA is a great company.  If I go back to Nvidia, you better believe itll be an EVGA branded card.

Although, I still think Ill stick with ATi for my BF3 upgrade. We'll see what the market looks like come bonus time.

If BC2 is anything to go by then BF3 will probably slightly favour AMD cards anyway.

HTC sues Apple in the UK

.. like a bunch kids
TAIWANESE SMARTPHONE MAKER HTC has sued rival firm Apple in the UK in the sort of tit for tat legal battle that supports entire law firms for years.

HTC recently got a ruling in its favour, of a sort, having been found to infringe only two out of twelve patents held by Apple, and at the time vowed to defend itself.

The company promised to appeal against this initial ruling, which could have seen its products banned from the US.

"We are highly confident we have a strong case for the ITC appeals process and are fully prepared to defend ourselves using all means possible," said Grace Lei, general counsel of HTC.

"We strongly believe we have alternate solutions in place for the issues raised by Apple. We look forward to resolving this case, so we can continue creating the most innovative mobile experiences for consumers."

HTC must consider offense the best form of defence, however, as this weekend the company sued Apple in Britain, reports Bloomberg. Details so far are very light but HTC already has an International Trade Commission (ITC) decison in its favour in the US, one that ruled that some of its S3 Graphics technology was infringed by Apple. Shortly after this decision was announced HTC snapped up that company and its patent booty.

funny when a phone manufacturer knows that they are getting so utterly dominated in their chosen market that they have to then try and siphon off some income from the big daddy. "apple has more cash than the us government" say cheeky news reports over here... next report "htc are phone industry's food-stamps scroungers"...
