Looking at getting an HD 6870. By all benchmarking reviews it looks to be pretty sweet for its price point. Anyone else got one right now?
Just ran a 6850 through 3dmark06 and paired with a i5 [email protected], it came very close to my 5850 with a i5 [email protected] GHz. 6870 should be just above that, The 560 ti is a much better deal imo, roughly the same price point but better performance.

The 1GB HD6950 costs the same as the GTX560 and performs better. The price of the HD6870 was lowered and it is not meant to compete with the GTX560, the 1GB HD6950 is.

According to pccasegear.

Gigabyte HD6870 = $259
Gigabyte 1GB HD6950 = $299
Gigabyte GTX560 Ti = $299
(I used gigabyte because it was the only manufacturer common in all 3)

I would say the 560 and 6950 are closer in price where I am

Oh wait up, I was comparing an XFX 6870 with any other 560

All Gigabyte cards:
6870 $255
560 $295
6950 $339

So, which should I get? I won't be OCing the card I choose, just stock speeds. I know, I know, different prices, different specs yada yada. Which though offers best performance for the price?

I'd skip the 6870, not a big enough performance increase over your 5770 tbh. If you're looking to future proof (and play BF3) I'd go for the 2GB HD6950. However, if you don't want to spend that much I'd go for the 1GB HD6950.

But that is all just my opinion, nothing more haha.

Hmm, thanks, I think I'll seriously consider the 6950 now.

Well, I've had a think a bit more and I'm starting to lean back towards the 6870. It just seems better value for money IMO.

Reading here, an extra $90 for four more fps doesn't seem worth it to me - http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-69 … -review/22

Sure, on other games there is a bigger difference, but if all cards are going over 60 fps then it's just unnecessary, as my monitor is at 60hz.

But we'll wait and see when it gets close to the release of BF3. If it looks like the 6870 will struggle a bit, I'll go the 6950, or even the 6970 if it has come down in price by then.

Loving this SSD. Load times and boot times are excellent. But i'm glad I waited for the bigger capacities to come down in price because fitting all of my games and major programs on it as well as the OS is fantastic.

Anyone know why there is no graphic equaliser in the new creative drivers? (apart from the fact that creative drivers are shit)

Anyone know how to enable it or if there is something i'm doing wrong? (apart from buying a creative soundcard)

Pretty cool design, looks like it would work well with the Asus Sabertooth P67 board as well.

I have some serious doubts about the heat transfer, but we'll see.

E: That baseplate is gonna be one seriously hot piece of metal.

Do you only have the drivers or the whole Creative suite or what's it called nowadays? Its interesting so many people have issues with Creative drivers. I have had 4 different cards made by Creative and never had a single issue.

It just seems a bit much. That thing takes up sooooooooooo much space. Wouldn't it heat up other components near it too, like the RAM for instance?
