tbh, the tv probably didn't work to begin with, which is why you had it.
It worked just fine until this happened.mtb0minime wrote:

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
Well in that case, I'm sorry for your loss
Why would you place your TV where a door could hit it ?Freezer7Pro wrote:

It's a door to a little storage room where there is nothing but my HTPC and some old junk.FloppY_ wrote:

That fucking sucks freezer, but isn't it just you an your mom in the house? I mean, I'm no genius but if it wasn't you that means.....
uhh, doorstops?
No, there's my step sister, my mom, her guy, a gal who took care of the dog that day, her dog and I.SonderKommando wrote:

The dog watching gal said she heard a loud thump from upstairs, out of nowhere, and I find it just a little bit hard to believe that story fully. I don't want to accuse her just like that (especially since she's seventh month pregnant), but it's hard not to, since she was the only one in the house at the time of the accident, and since I know that her dog is quite wild.
Ilocano, I haven't wedged the door since it's not the kind of door that opens up by itself. It's the only entrance to the scrub, so I really doubt anyone would try to open it up from the inside.

yes, but a floor doorstop to keep the door from getting too close to the TV. Having kids, they have a tendency to slam opening and closing doors.
Just got done installing my new sound system in my car.
Quick question: speakers do in fact have a break in period, right? If so, do the woofers hit bass a bit harder once they break in? I'd imagine they do, but I'd figure I'd ask here. I tried Google but I ran into a bunch of sites analyzing the actual performance of the speaker and it looked like a bunch of jibberish to me.

Yeah they apparently do but I would guess that if they seem weak now they'll probably stay weak. IMO it seems like an audiophile thing, where its all placebo.
They're 6 1/2 inch speakers, so they don't pump out too much bass, but they still have a nice kick - they're 50 watt speakers. My stock speakers were really worn out and they were only 20 watt speakers but they surprisingly had more bass, but I did notice that the drivers on them were really, and the drivers on my new speakers feel stiff.Winston_Churchill wrote:

Yeah it will burn in, but the difference will be negligible. You'd probably notice it if you did it in one step, but cause you're listening to it the whole way you don't notice it as much. Probably get more of a result fiddling with an EQ.
Holy fucking hell - Chrome is stupid fast compared to Firefox! I'm hoping FF4 is this fast, though, because then there will never be a reason to switch.
Yeah, Chrome's really fast, but I couldn't stand it crashing every 5 minutes for me.
Such a shame

Never had it crash. Couldn' t go back to FF or IE now.FFLink wrote:

Really lucky. It worked perfectly for me in the first few weeks of use, but now it's just impossible for me to use. The whole 'crashing every 5 minutes' comment isn't even an exaggeration in the slightest.
I like Firefox better than Chrome, since I'm so used to it. I couldn't care less if my pages load in 1.5 or 2 seconds.

And firefox can be customized and personalized beyond recognition with little effort...

Try Opera for speed.CapnNismo wrote:

opera was only known for its speed-advantage back during the dial-up days
now that everyone has broadband the specific tunneling method that opera uses doesn't really give any difference
operas lo-fi rendering mode, however, is good for low bandwidth

I find it much snappier at opening and loading pages than most browsers. Mind you, the last browser I used religiously was FF 3.6.
I've used Opera. Chrome FEELS faster.
I bet Netscape Navigator could load wikipedia faster than Opera.
O shi.... Panzer you wanker, that's your fault.
