I'm in the market for a second MP3 player. I just can't fit everything I want to on my 64GB iPod touch (3G). I was sorta hoping that the new touch would be available in 128GB but that didn't work out. So I want another 64GB player. My options are:
Don't care about internet, apps and extra toys. My touch already satisfies all that. Leaning towards the Sony atm.
- iPod touch 3G: I already have one. Have to use iTunes for sync.
- iPod touch 4G: $60 more than a 3G is a ripoff tbh. Apple fucking us Swiss again.
- Zune HD: Lackluster battery life. Radio doesn't work outside the US. I'm stuck with yet another program I have to use to get the music on.
- Sony NWZ-A847: More expensive than the Zune and the touch 3G. Tiny and great sound quality. Has a radio too. Drag & drop support, no need for syncing with some bloated POS software.
- Cowon J3 32GB + 32GB microSD: Spec wise it's awesome, great sound quality. But it needs to rescan its library on every boot. Don't want to wait a minute every time I turn it on. That is just annoying.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity.
