Why do you think people want to hear what you have to say?CammRobb wrote:

Since vista introduced the user folder system and windows 7 the library, you have no valid reason to have crap lying around elsewhere except for an external drive you can easily copy anyway...

Hardware management: Any errors or unknown devices?FatherTed wrote:

If yes: Try finding drivers for said devices
If no: Enable/Remove any network adapters and reboot, they should re-install themselves
EDIT: Also: OS?

device manager shows everything A-ok except for the lack of a network adaptor. on XP (it's onboard btw, gigabyte p31)

Try manually installing the drivers from the manufacturers website and rebootFatherTed wrote:

If that doesn't work check for possible BIOS settings fuxxing it up for you...
EDIT: XP can be a bitch with non-detected network hardware since it doesn't have built-in drivers

I've never used the User folders for anything. They're so useless. The library feature in 7 is neat but not all that great. Most of us actually have multiple hard drives with stuff spread out over all of them so the user folder feature is pretty dumb
If you use the user folder properly you have your pictures, videos, music and such in the appropriate folders, along with your savedgames and documents, fuck even your desktop icons...Winston_Churchill wrote:

Why the fuck would you spread it all over the place?
Sure I can understand a seperate HDD for your movies / downloads, but that's easy to back up along with the USER dir

Dont worry floppy, I have my stuff in each separate folder.
What they're trying to say though is that they have dedicated hard drives for each type of media

I fail to see the problem then, copy the contents of each HDD to wherever you want your backupCammRobb wrote:

Well my 100GB C drive cant come close to fitting everything in it. I have ~8TB of filled drive space so...
It cant even hold my Windows partition + music + pictures
Why would I need those silly icons when I know how to get there using directories just as quickly

My mate came up with Taskin' Robbins. Sold.
