AF does not work properly on AMD HD5 cards and AMD doesn't even admit that. Its pissing me off, and AA works only occasionally these days.

CBA to google translate, look at the pics. They say more than thousand words. I want my image quality back....
Barely noticeable imo
Moving lines in ground are real fun to watch. Especially in Arma 2. And you might aswell turn all IQ settings off if you can't see difference between AF and no AF.

I see no reason to have much more expensive AMD card with worse image quality than the slightly slower GTX 460 anymore.

nVidia have always been known to have better image quality though, right?

Panzer, do you think it might be a driver issue? I have listened to the Tech Report podcast yesterday and they were talking about how ATi really has not been up on their game recently when it comes to extracting all they can via the drivers whereas Nvidia absolutely shines in this department.
One thing I know is that AA implementation is done horribly wrong. I have spent countless hours trying to get AA working in games where it shouldn't be any issue at all.

It doesn't help AMD will not even admit the AF issue, cards are 9 months old now and looking badly that they just keep ignoring it and roll out HD6.

GT200 and HD4 were very close, NV had little better MSAA. But image quality of HD5 is worse than HD4 and any NV generation. Unacceptable.

I've heard rumours that the 6 series won't be all that impressive, slightly better performance than current gen, but a lot better with DX11.

It wouldn't surprise me. I would wait for the HD7 before you see any HUGE performance gains. I'm sure for AMD it was hard enough to get the switch over to DX11 along with the new fabrication process. Maybe they just want to get everything settled in before throwing a stick in the spokes again? idk

I can't see how ATI would allow themselves to fumble with HD6 in the face of GF104 and whichever Fermi derivatives nVidia can pull out of their hat. I can imagine that they'd sooner hold back than lose face right about now.

Depends. I posted an article late last year that described how HD5 came to fruition and GPUs that come to market today have been in the pipeline for YEARS. It is very difficult to change directions with these projects, so despite the fact that Nvidia has had a very good showing with their GPUs, ATi might have planned on a flop and it's too late to change. The project manager behind HD5 (I can't remember his name) managed to get lucky on a few gambles with the production and came up with a very good product.

In fact, here's the article: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2937 It's a bit of a read, but very well worth it.

Just noticed Windows lets me compress my hard-drives.. Is this worth it? How much compression are we talking? Does it make reading times slower? Only thinking about doing it on my storage drives.

Forget about it. It'll only give you a tiny bit more storage but accessing the files will take ages and eat CPU like mad. All the files (like mp3, flac, x264, jpg, png, etc.) you generally have are already compressed about as far it'll go.

If I remember right at least up to the HD2xxx series IQ was ATI's strong hold haven't kept up much on it though, I shop for the best card I can get for what my budget at the time is.

Hay guys,

I spilled some drink on my keyboard a while back, and left it for a few months. Only recently I tried to test to see if it works again, where a only a few keys failed. These keys are in the same area of the keyboard (backspace, insert, delete, the |\ button and home button). I disassembled it to the bare basics, so I managed to find the plastic sheet under the rubber sheet and gave both a wash.
However after cleaning/wiping them down and reassembling the keyboard, the keys in that area still fail to work. Do you think I've permanently buggered them, or is there another method I can test to see if the keys will work?

TIA.

Very doubtful magnetic screw driver would do any harm unless you use force and hit the motherboard physically with it.

Intel does it pretty much always when they slice the manufacturing process. Same happened from G1 -> G2.

that's odd. it shows the price if I search for "$". I will need your complete specs & PayPal account info to troubleshoot this
