lel.. get a DAC with XLR out. Actually, since they are monitor type speakers, you'd really want a DAC over a standard soundcard...
the fuck's a dac?

you got xfire or steam?

i got an RCA cable from bestbuy, it sounds like absolute shite. the noise coming out is terrible. Audio card/onboard card doesn't seem to make a difference.

Would switching to a TRS cable help? I'm probably going to go to frys tomorrow.

Anyone, halp?

edit: shitballs! I connected the 1/8th to my ipod and it had very little noise. What's going on?

edit: my left speaker sounds muted. what the fuck.

I was reading on another site about setting up monitors and he/she said that a creative xFi should be just peachy.

Also any thoughts about one speaker sounding muted? Is it not getting enough power?

mm.. so what audio card do you exactly have? Swap the inputs on the speakers (ie swap the left and right channels that you've plugged in).. if the problem persists in the same speaker, then I think it would be the monitor itself..

Switched the inputs, the left one is still muted.

By left one you mean the same speaker was muted both times? If the highs were muted, or the whole thing sounded muffled, the tweeter could be fucked..

The whole thing sound muffled. It could be just the highs, I guess, it's not real easy to tell.

Time to call support, already. Yay.

edit: Yes, the same monitor both times.

double edit: Should I contact the reseller or KRK? I'm assuming KRK..

Storm, zappin' my modem
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Is there a way in Windows so that when you drag + drop something, you move it instead of copying it?

Also, right-click dragging gives you all the options...
