ATi cards throttle at 90c, NV cards throttle at 105c.

ATi cards actually run closer to their throttle temperature than NVIDIA.

GTX 470 already has higher minimum fps than HD 5870, idles within couple degrees from a HD 5870, load temps are a bit higher (can take that too) and not much more noise either.

So oh please stfu stupid fanboi ranting about how ATi cards would be the next best thing since sliced bread.

Even had to downscale the average performance difference to 10%, didn't you. Its already closer to 20% with newest drivers. Not to talk about minimum fps which doesn't dip as heavily as ATi cards have done for generations now.

e: 480 sits well between HD 5870 and HD 5970 in price.
The funny thing is that the material Nvidia use to fasten the silicon core to the PCB goes unstable at a far lower temperature than that which ATI use.

That is the reason for the high failure rate of Nvidia GPUs.
You talking about all the bad bumps issues?

No, I'm talking about the material they use to fuse the actual silicon core to the little PCB which you in turn solder to the rest of the card with voltage regulators and RAM. If I could only recall the article, it was actually a quite interesting read.

Are you implying that Apple products aren't made in China, Uzique?

Allow me to smile.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

They use Hon Hai (aka Foxconn to you white folks).

Apple uses the same fucking shit dell does, and slaps on a nice price tag for the fucking logo.

no i was implying it's all the same, dumbass. what point would i be making otherwise?

my point was it's all chinese-made shit, all sold for inflated prices by marketing-people.

floppy was talking as if having to be a marketer for apple somehow involves selling your soul because of dishonesty.

They're indeed all dishonest, but some more than others, and I must say that Apple is one of the more evil companies out there. Just compare an Apple laptop with something like a proper HP (6540b, for example) or a proper Thinkpad (T410, for example). Those are both quite expensive machines even if they don't come with any of the bells and whistles of the Apple counterparts. That's because they're designed for what a company might require; durability and reliability over a fancy exterior. Even if the aluminium casing of the Apple laptops might be nice, it's nowhere near as durable as a heavy-duty magnesium frame. Aluminium is a quite soft metal, we make beer cans out of it, you know.

they're not 'evil', that's such a ridiculously naive and immature way to look at business. they just don't operate to a price:performance model. their brand has intangible 'benefits' (as defined by the consumer's demands, not the companies') that up the price for other aspects. consumer experience. aftercare service. brand aesthetics and design. operating system and platform. brand connotations and awareness. yes, the apple logo adds value- but people buy brands every day that are priced exclusively or profitably just because of the branding. it is not 'evil'. not all hardware and gadgets have to be sold purely based on their (relative) performance. please read a business studies book or something, it's not a difficult science.
