Do your banks not have machines that count change for you?

That's gotta be a huge pain in the ass to count for that long :S

I have a huge bottle full of pennies too. The thing is it's been contaminated by the extremely odd silver coin (10p, 5p, 20p etc.. perhaps even some gay Euro coins)

I suppose I could use those machines, but the % that they scrape off is usually too large. I'd rather count it manually and go to a bank. Maybe one day.

I misread that as a huge bottle full of penises.

My bank counts them for free.  Well, they shove them in a huge coin counter, but it costs nothing.  Also for US people, you can use coinstar machines and get a gift card with the money, and no % is taken out.

My bottle is only about 3/5 full (best way to put it) - I was intending on only counting it once it was completely 1/1 full. But it's been nigh on 6 maybe 7 years (actually maybe more) and it hasn't really gone anywhere for about two years now. Mainly because I haven't been bothered to actually put anything in it at a consistent pace for a long time.

If I actually kept up It'd probably be full now.

Ah well, I guess I'll make sure to have counted it some time soon

and yes, I am talking about the penis bottle

That is a big candle by your fireplace. But, ya I was surprised at how much change I had in my car when I cleaned it out one day.

Probably about £2 worth, and about £3 worth of silly Euro's. Not in the bottle, but (somewhere) in the room in general. Not much else in terms of foreign currency though. I might have a few old US coins from the 90's, but it's best to keep them outside my room so as not to attract any demonspawn

I got about £15 in 2p's, 1p's and 5p's here on my desk in work.  We used to go back up to Mums and play cards with our change, I tend to chuck the shrapnel in the pot asap as it hurts my arse when I sit down on my wallett if I dont.  It fucks ya car seats up aswell.

The law in the UK says its illegal to keep money this way (take it out of circulation) same as piggy banks.

I remember after I got my first car, whenever I used to fill up with gas, I usually paid in cash. Then whatever change was leftover, I just chucked in the center console. Same thing whenever I bought something with cash, I just put the coins in the center console. After about a year and a half of that, I had about $75 in random change. Not too bad. That didn't include all the $1 bills that I had also collecting in their from tips from work (grocery store) that I used to pay for lunches at work and such.

Wish I could explain it there is an even weirder one which still stands today I think.

If your pregnant and need the toilet you can request to use a police mans hat if no toilets are available.

Only in England can you earn a criminal record for keeping loose change and be legally allowed to piss in a Policeman's hat.

Presumably it's to do with it raising the value of the pound because you're taking it out of circulation. Think about it, if the 65 million people in the UK each had 10 pounds in change kept somewhere, that's 650 million pounds not doing anything. That's probably not enough to actually change (geddit?) anything, but I'm assuming that's the principle the law was founded on.

My dad used to keep £2 coins and 50p's in a huuuge Famous Grouse bottle.
He did it for a couple of months and ended up having between £70-100

Hmm, I should really count mine up. I have a reasonably large collection of 20p's and downwards.

More importantly, TPM-J45P3R- has the same home theatre system as me.

Throw all of it into a wishing well.

Or those guide dog charity bins, shaped like guide dogs (if you have them):

You'll stand there for like 6 hours but it will be worth it.

Do you think that was a real laborador dog? They just coated him in PVA glue and carved the insides out of him?
