but why "Safari-on-a-mac"? Is it any different than Safari on Windows or Linux?
I'm used to Firefox now. Plus for me only Firefox actually blocks out the shitty ads (Adblock plus) and has some other useful little things. Otherwise they're all the same really, actually I hate the layout of Chrome and IE. Opera isn't so bad, but it's more or less the same.

Well I've really only used FF, IE and netscape... and FF wins outa those easily.

Perhaps it varies per OS ... I was using it with XP (for a short amount of time). And I haven't tried it for a couple of months, so they've probably ironed stuff out (one would hope).Kmarion wrote:

I tested all of them on the same machine (vista at the time . Yea, I guess certain configurations could favor one or the other. I cant see stabbed in the face though..lol. meh.

And OK, I was exaggerating a little. Perhaps it was more like using a slow, unresponsive program.
TBH most of the guys at work have no end of problems with Safari-on-a-Mac. There's a bunch of websites we've got set up that they have to use FF on, because Safari just crashes.
Honestly I can use any of the browsers listed without issues, in fact I have them all installed, i need them for work. My machine is fast enough where the speed difference between them is hardly noticeable if it all.
For me its not a matter of fanboiism, the reason I use FireFox as my primary browser is because is has more mature development tools and it plays nice with the Microsoft dev stuff. I think once you reach a level a competency this argument is really silly, it becomes more about personal preference.

^^When I said speed referring to safari I meant "snappy". I can see a difference but yea, it's virtually negligible. I use FF mostly for the same reasons you do.
