GOP Rep. Joe Wilson has apologized for yelling out "You lie!" to Obama during his health care speech in front of Congress:
Link has video and everything.

So do you think he went over the line? I must admit that is a first.

Wilson's a douchebag.  He can make an ass of himself if he wants to, but it only hurts his side of the healthcare debate.

It was disrespectful in that situation... but i don't think Joe was alone.... People all over the US were yelling at their tv saying the same thing.

This speach was great. He called out all people who were against the ideas he's promoting that are republican ideas or ideas/bills/whatever put forth by republicans that other republicans are calling him a liar or socialist for and addressed every question and settled every lie circulating that was brought up. For all the fuck-heads who are just gonna come in here and just say "lol" (foreman) or "liar" or "socialist". Don't. Unless you'd like to look stupid and immature. Then go ahead.

EDIT: Like stringray ^^^vvv

While I disagree on his tact, I think it will only bolster his support from his constituents.  Remember all those people at those town halls yelling at their congressman supporting healthcare, I bet a few people watching or listening to the speech were yelling exactly that.

Wilson for President 2012.

You forget how alienated the moderate middle becomes when they see people yelling about shit.

Remember how the Left shot itself in the foot several times by getting so crazy in opposition to the Iraq War?  That's part of what helped Bush get re-elected.  Kerry was a weak candidate to begin with, but when they could link him to anti-war activists in the past, it wasn't hard to also link him image-wise to the loonies like Cindy Sheehan.

These days, the loonies are the "teabaggers."

He settled nothing. All he did was say, "that stuff's not true". Too bad he was wrong. Obviously, he hasn't bothered to read the actual bill that's in the House right now.

Yes he went over the line.  This is not a first though as other Presidents have been interrupted whilst speaking to congress.

LOL at how half the room gives a standing ovation and the rest just sit there. Bipartisanship in the US is fucked until some major changes in the political system are made. They could use some practise on their booing though, it was a bit half arsed.

Stop with using facts to compare things.

That doesn't work in US politics. You should know that by now.

It is interesting that the people who are up in arms over Wilson's decorum (or lack thereof) are the same ones who say we should be more like Europe in our governance.

Irony is ironic.

True...  but then again, I like many things about Europe but despise the EU.  I think there are probably a lot of Americans who feel that way.

So, you can retain American ideas regarding formalities in government while still supporting things like Parliamentary-style multi-party governance.

By the same token, you can be against a North American Union (which would somewhat resemble the EU in idea) while still supporting more socialization of medicine.
