Delayed feed.
Na couldn't have been. He was telling people to turn over and check that what was happening on his TV was happening on ours.
Nah, Ted's right. Delayed feed, combined with how the camera zooms in on the TV when the balls are spinning around. For that split second that Derren's balls were out of the view of his camera, he had a hand switch them with the correct ones.

How is it interesting?  He creates a show out of telling you that he predicted the results of the lotto, then if you are stupid enough to follow, promises that he will divulge his secrets in another show.  When that show comes around, he will probably tell you that it was not in fact an illusion, that he didn't predict the lotto numbers per se, that he just didn't divulge all of the information to you, the viewer.

And no, I don't know how he did it because he hasn't told that much yet.  I can tell you that he didn't in fact predict the lotto numbers.

Anyone with a brain knows he didn't predict it, it's how he did it that's interesting, and it clearly is interesting enough that people watched it.

Being stupid enough to follow? He claimed he could so something strang/out of the ordinary so people wanted to see him do it/fuck up. If anything's stupid it's saying "I know it's not magic" over and over again on a forum.

It was an illusion no matter what way you look at it, so I doubt he will say that, I also can't see him saying "I got this guy over there to change them when you couldn't see, that was all, bye."

But I don't know what he'll say. I'm interested.

My thoughts.

We all know he didn't actually predict it, however the methods on how he got those numbers there is what is really interesting. This being derren brow I know it will more than likely be a startingly simple method behind it (That doesn't involve camera tricks).

He's hooked me for these events of his, though his cold war one sounds a bit, meh. I want to see next weeks episode where he attempts to prevent everyone watching from getting from their seats. Shall have to see .

I'm commenting based off the only thing I have ever read/heard about the guy, which is the horse race stunt he did.  That's not predicting a winner, that is stringing along the viewer by claiming magic or clairvoyance or whatever when he just didn't divulge all the information about his stunt.  It doesn't strike me as entertaining at all, and like I said I think it's stupid that he creates an air of mystery simply because he isn't telling you all the information.  I really don't think him using the process of elimination to create a "winner" of a series of horse races is all that exciting.  I learned a card trick that did the same thing when I was 8.  It was cool as an 8 year-old to show my other idiot friends, but I'd hardly waste even 15 minutes of my time watching a dude replicate that idea on TV, then sit anxiously at the edge of my seat as he divulges, "haha, got ya, I didn't show you all of what I did, it's just a simple camera/visual trick" only to think, oh snap this guy is amazing!!11

I am not a very fun person, so things like this don't get me excited.  I'd much rather read or stare blankly at a wall and ponder my own existence in a haze of pot smoke.

He's an Illusionist, an entertainer. I think the horseracing one is a bad example. You should see the live thing he did where he predicted a word that a person would chose after giving out newspapers and asking the person to first pick a newspaper, then pick a page number, the pick a side of the page, then after it was ripped in half which side they would like to keep, then tearing that page into little bits and dropping half of them then picking a word on one of those scraps of paper. He goes through how he got the person to pick the word although his method still seems to have a lot of holes. It's interesting though, it's a two part vid somewhere on YouTube I think.

You don't know he's going to say it's a simple camera trick though, neither do I for that matter but as I say, I doubt it would be something so trivial. You're talking like you know how he did it, yet you admit you don't. If you wouldn't waste 5 minutes watching him do something out of the ordinary then I don't understand what you are doing wasting your time debating something you don't even care about. You would rather watch a wall for 15 minutes because it's so boring, yet talking about it here is that amazing to you? No wonder you're no fun.

Hard to find on the net, but try and watch "Derren Brown: The System" it shows how he predicts the winner of a horse race correctly for 3 months in a row and turns a woman into a millionaire, by letting her bet all her money on his predictions......Now of course he couldn't really do that, but there's no tricks involved, no fixed races, nothing wrong.....and the woman really does become a millionaire, it's fascinating when he explains how he does it.
Actually no he doesn't, she only won 13,000 Pounds. And he never predicted a winner at all, he used a system of probability and used thousands of people to nail it down to a winner. He never knew who was going to win.

Oh, well it was ages ago, apologies for the exaggeration, but it's not the amount of money that matters anyway.

But on the last race of that show, where it was just the one woman, he predicted the winner didn't he? Maybe I missed something, but I thought that's what happened, leaving the show at an open end.

Agree with TY though, it's probably not the best example of what he does. I've been to one his shows, where he does the newspaper thing, walking on broken glass etc. really interesting.

Indeed, definately have to watch this, and what show was on after it?

The one where he makes the audience forget the show or one of his live ones?

Hmm.

An odd prospect.

The only way really to know if it can work is if people try it I guess.

Funny if he just killed the lottery by doing this.

Right Guise... 86~ million Euromillions jackpot coming up, who wants to try ;P

Supposedly using "the wisdom of crowds".
The first example of it given was one of those guess the weight of... to win it (in this case it was an ox), some guy took all the answers and the average of them was apparently the exact answer.
So here he basically got a group of about 24 people got them all to look at the Lotto numbers for the past year and then just "guess" what they think will be the next six numbers. Then take the totals for each ball ,and divide them by 24 to get the average and apparently that gives you the numbers...
