I tend to listen to music without lyrics when studying, sometimes I get distracted by them and they throw my train of thought.

I study with music, when I drive I have to blast my music with strong bass so i stay awake lolz
always. one of the main times when i DO actually listen to music. studying, working, revising, exercising... whatever. i agree that sometimes lyrics can be distracting, but it's easy to put on some fairly unobtrusive electronica or ambient to just set a nice atmosphere. music is an essential soundtrack to almost everything i do, especially when im sat down in front of a computer for more than an hour at a time!

I used to listen to music when doing homework/coursework. I used it as a revision tool as well. I used to listen to it at work, because I had such a mundane job, and couldn't stand the woman I worked with. I always listen to it when traveling, except the 30 minute tube journey after college. The last thing I need after working 7 hours with headphones on is to use more headphones.

I just put on whatever I feel like listening to at that moment in time. Always albums though, never shuffle.

I could never stand the complete silence. Even when I'm sleeping I usually fall asleep listening to the FM Radio on my phone (Radio 4/World Service is good for making me go sleep) and in summer I usually leave the fan on which provides some good cooling aswell as the background noise which helps me fall asleep.
I can't stand silence, too much annoying shit then makes its appearance, too many stupid annoying noises from outside and from inside.

Nah it just distracts me most of the time, although I also can't work in complete silence either I normally like to have the TV on or something in the background.
