I've never really heard of landslides and such in California, certainly nothing on a scale that's notable, and you guys have had fires like this and worse for years now. Also does it really rain that much in that area anyway, I dunno, you guys live there, I guess (ATG) ... and his business does sort of revolve around knowing how much rain there is...
While we are in a current drought there can be monsoonal rains, which are predicted for this winter. Landslide kill more people here than fires, while fires destroy more homes.
The hills have been stripped, and if the rain comes, there will be carnage and loss of lives.
The ground here is sandy silt, it does not absorb water well and because of that the top layer becomes heavy goo. Combine that with people who build as if it doesn't rain and you have a recipe for disaster. There are also steep slopes surrounding all the populated areas.
The construction industry survivors feed on foreclosures, fires, earthquakes and mudslides.
Bring it on.
