In the US, the roads are generally paid for by state/local govts, so...not so much.

I'm fairly sure the government doesn't get outside contractors to pay people an $8000 rebate.

Actually it does, poor townships cannot afford to maintain their roads, if it was run by the feds, all roads would get equal treatment. So like any shift from local > Federal government, it would be good for the poor and bad for the rich.

Did you even read the things I posted?

The Australian stimulus program has been a resounding success. The solar panel rebate is a rebate.

There is a Federally-funded road subsidy that goes to the states, and it is prioritized, so it is not equitable, thus disproving your argument.
