What the fuck is going on man. Why is it so hard, with a supermajority, why is it so hard to get the straight dope?
Because the "straight dope" goes against freedom and toward govt. control. This is why everything liberal MUST be a deception that feeds the sheepleRed Forman wrote:

This is enough to show you don't understand much. Think about it, how much do un-employment figures lag behind what is actually happening. Buisnesses have to have already pulled them selves back up and gotten on steady foot, THEN build up confidence that things will remain good. At that point they have to decide to hire, work out where they most need people, get the word out, schedule and execute preliminary interviews, hold second round interviews, schedule when the new workers can actually start... After all that is done there is still more time while the numbers get updated... Weekly unemployment claims however are down.Catbox wrote:

Thats because one is entertainment, the other is drab and educational. No matter who is talking how many common people really tune in to random speeches from the pres other then the MAJOR ones.Your popularity is falling daily... repeats of CSI get higher ratings than your primetime specials...
CARS definitely had a shaky run and there is plenty to complain about... BUT ford is reporting their highest numbers in years and many many dealerships are selling in a day what they used to in a month. Its pumped a huge amount of money through the economy and at least for now given things a good kick. Yes, they are looking for another 2 billion... But you do realize the original budget was supposed to be 4 right? That means even if the bill for 2 billion passes they will be 1 billion UNDER what was originally proposed.Oh yeah... Cash for Clunkers... It ran out of money in 4 days... Now they just added 2 billion more dollars of our tax money...
That's 2 billion over budget in 1 week... Govt run healthcare should be a breeze...
Still don't like the idea of giving more tax money out that isn't there. 3 or 4 bil.VicktorVauhn wrote:

Wait after the economic storm passes will there be an economic drought?!
Rescuing the world/america out of the former regimes blind incompetence was never going to be an easy fix. History will show that a credit crunch only comparable to an economic shit storm won't be fixed within a matter of months. Give it time, give him time. Patience is a virtue.
I don't understand. Aren't the majority of Americans in support of free health care? because now's the only realistic shot any administration will have at creating one.

This is reminds me.. when Obama says I inherited a 1.3 trillion dollar debt.. can someone please remind him that he also voted for 700 billion of that?..teddy..jimmy wrote:

It's a single vote that amounted for half of what he is talking about. Apply it to the context of what he was speaking of.Red Forman wrote:

No offense but you have no clue what a joke the cash for clunkers program is(was).... 20,000 dealers equals about 12-13 cars for each dealer to sell and the 1 billion dollard is gone... in 4 days... What do the car dealers do next week? Ask for another 1-2 billion a week...VicktorVauhn wrote:

Love is the answer
Presidential popularity doesn't tend to benefit from economic crises.
It takes a longer period of policy than 7 months for people to really be able to accurately guage the performance of president.
Polls indicate the whims of the people at a given moment, not a longstanding view held by them -- until much more time has passed.
Besides, you know how it is. When Bush's popularity was waning, conservatives said that polls didn't mean anything. When Barack had record popularity levels, they said it didn't mean anything. Now that his popularity is waning, polls suddenly are a big deal?
I don't think so.

Granted, the same could be said for Social Security.
It's funny to me how selective people are about perceiving government waste. They typically only criticize the sectors they disagree with, rather than looking at the big picture and seeing the waste in every department.

Nice. Hide 3 jets in a defense bill for your private travel. Fuck sakes Obama, do something. That whole change thing you know?
----------------------------
At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress.

Because the Democratic party has factions just like the GOP. Some would say that the Democrats are often more divided than Republicans because of their "big tent" composition.Red Forman wrote:

For example, Nancy Pelosi is very different from Blue Dog Democrats.
That's a pretty good deal...Red Forman wrote:

80 million is fuck all. You want to be looking to cut billions, not millions. That's like saying "Oh shit, I've got $2000 to pay off my mortgage this month, I'd better buy one less Mars bar".SEREMAKER wrote:

While I agree with the point to a degree, there are plenty of reasons for many of those folks to not use commercial travel regularly.
